Protein Scientist (Purification)

The Role: BigHat Biosciences is looking for a motivated and energetic Protein Scientist with a strong background in protein purification to further advance BigHat’s platform for ML-driven antibody discovery and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Onboard protein purification from 5 mL to 1L scale scale using ÄKTA avant
• Design, develop, and execute purification workflows for single and multi-step purification (affinity purification, IEX, SEC, mixed mode purification etc)
• Purification of various antigen and antibody formats, including fragments, IgGs, novel fusion proteins, and bi- and multi-specifics
• Collaborate with automation team to develop high-throughout affinity purification techniques
• Evaluation and incorporation of emerging technologies for higher yield, increased speed, and/or decreased COGs 

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D and at least 1 year of hands-on working experience in protein purification, preferably with ÄKTA systems and Unicorn software
• Appetite for learning and using new tools and technologies to support core responsibilities and cross-functional communication 
• A strong can-do mentality and desire to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment
• Nice-to-haves include prior experience with expression, analytics, or automation
