Position Summary

HR Business Partner driving the people strategy, workforce planning, organizational design, talent management, team effectiveness and change management for Tumor Micro Environment Therapeutic Research Center (“ TME TRC”) and Discovery Biotherapeutics (“DBTX”) group. These teams are part of the BMS Research & Early Development organization. The HR Business partner will be accountable for functional areas as well as relevant site responsibilities for Redwood City.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic HR Business Partner expertise to the TME TRC and DBTX to maximize organizational performance.

  • For these groups:
    • Partners with the leaders to build an industry leading capability through both internal development and targeted external recruitment.
    • Leads the continued evolution of the talent strategy to ensure highly differentiated focus on this critical capability and workforce.
    • Translates business strategy and organizational needs into contemporary global organizational performance solutions including organizational design, talent management, and culture change.
    • Translates the business priorities of their leaders into relevant People Strategy and monitors the effectiveness of organization performance programs through the use of metrics and analytics in a way that brings value to the business.
  • Works with COE’s to monitor external environment (e.g., job market, technology, demographic development) and define future workforce requirements (quantitative and qualitative) as well as identifying and articulating the HR needs of the business to the COE’s and deploys their programs and processes in ways that bring value to the business.
  • Provides guidance and collaborates with HR Business Partners and People Services teams for effective deployment of HR activities.
  • Analyzes key data and trends to drive organizational effectiveness and the development of a workforce plan aligned with business strategy and objectives.
  • Drives succession planning, diversity aspirational goal achievement and talent retention efforts pipelining, as necessary, for external talent. Takes a leadership role in creating a respectful & inclusive work environment while role-modeling the BMS Values and fostering geographical and cultural diversity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree/Certification/Licensure

  • BA/BS Degree, Advanced Degree preferred, and 8+ years of HR relevant business experience
  • Proven success in working effectively at senior management levels to impact and influence decision-making and in supporting global organizations
  • Experience in the use of metrics and analytics in a way that drives business performance
  • Experience in leading change management efforts including defining change and communication plans
  • Experience in the use of metrics and analytics in a way that drives business performance
  • Demonstrated experience in applying workforce planning knowledge, engagement strategies, and succession management
  • Proven application in leveraging business acumen and external insights to improve business and talent outcomes
  • Knowledge of external trends and factors that influence human behaviors and decision- making at the individual, group, and organizational level
  • Proven experience in working effectively within a matrixed environment and building alignment in a cross functional and team environment

  • Extensive experience as an HR trusted business partner with significant leadership skills and experience building and leading global, diverse teams of HR professionals.
  • Proven success in working effectively at senior management levels to impact and influence decision making

  • Experience in leading change management efforts including defining change and communication plans

Location: Redwood City (CA, US). May require some travel to the various BMS locations in the US (<25%)
