Job Details

Fate Therapeutics is currently seeking a Director or Associate Director of Supply Planning and Sourcing to manage and provide oversight of the planning and sourcing functions that support Fate’s manufacturing and R&D facilities at multiple locations. This position works closely with cross-functional teams from Technical Operations and R&D to understand their needs and priorities.

The successful candidate has strong strategy understanding and planning expertise to drive the production planning process, oversee creation and implementation of supply plans across the manufacturing network, develop procurement/sourcing strategies to meet business needs and translate the strategy into an executable plan. This person will build strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure desired service levels are achieved while identifying new sources of supply to ensure business continuity and growth. This is a full-time position reporting to the Executive Director of Supply Chain and is located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities
  • Create a strong team environment that demonstrates timely and effective communication, a sense of urgency, flexible and adaptable to support the company’s growth plans and New Product Introduction (NPIs)
  • Establish goals, KPIs (including supplier scorecards) and benchmarks for Supply Planning & Sourcing
  • Provide leadership to the Planning team to create, update and maintain the Master Production Scheduling (MPS) and Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)
  • Develop inventory strategies and targets to ensure production continuity, high inventory turns and minimal supply disruption/waste
  • Negotiate and execute contracts with suppliers and liaise with Legal to establish appropriate Supplier Master Service Agreements
  • Manage supplier relationships and lead regular business reviews with key suppliers regarding performance (scorecard/KPI) and future needs
  • Monitor market conditions to anticipate trends in pricing, capacity, and supply base consolidation and develop risk mitigation recommendations to Management
  • Drive and track cost reduction activities to improve product cost
  • Develop global strategic sourcing plans to support ongoing production and NPI that reduces total cost without compromising quality and service levels
  • Lead the design and implementation of the ERP system (specifically MRP and MPS modules) and develop work processes to support the use and optimization of these systems
  • Support the development of the supply chain business process for commercial launch
  • Act as subject matter expert for Planning & Sourcing during an audit
  • Forecast resourcing needs to ensure the Team is prepared to meet departmental and Company goals
  • Recruit, mentor and develop staff to succeed in a fast paced and high growth company

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Science, or other relevant discipline
  • 10+ years Supply Chain related experience in Pharma/Biotech industries or regulated
  • industry with 5 years of people management experience, Cell & Gene Therapy experiences
  • preferred
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, MRP and MPS systems as well as
  • implementation experiences
  • Experience with production planning and Clinical & Operations Planning (C&OP)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration to drive change
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, planning and analytical skills to drive performance

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
