General Scope and Summary

Sage Therapeutics is searching for a creative, collaborative, resourceful, and proactive Associate Director, Sales Operations. In this position, you will be an integral contributor responsible for establishing and overseeing streamlined sales processes  to ensure optimal operations of the Commercial Sales-related teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategy and execution of the US Sales Operations function.

  • Direct the development and management of the customer CRM (Veeva) and the MDM processes.

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of the field alignment.

  • Ensure all field team members are fully credentialed to conduct business within their territories.

  • Manage fleet/vehicle reimbursement program.

  • Establish field communication and field reporting processes (including management of the field reporting platform in coordination with IT).

  • Plan and execute key field events (regional field meetings, trainings, etc.) in coordination with Commercial Learning & Development and Operations colleagues.

  • Select, develop, and manage relationships with key third party vendors.

  • Provide a high level of strategic analysis and planning to manage demands and expectations from multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Work closely with Sales leadership to identify customer engagement training needs.

  • Ensure field compliance with government regulations and company processes.

  • Ensure budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required.

  • 6+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience with 2+ years specifically driving and executing Sales Operations-related functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Up to 10% national travel required.

  • Master's/advanced degree in business administration, operations, sales, or a related field a plus.

  • 8+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience with 2+ years specifically driving and executing Sales Operations-related functions.

  • Prior experience managing complex operations projects in a face-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills.

  • Exceptional organization and project management skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze complex issues to develop realistic plans, programs, and recommendations.

  • Ability to communicate issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues.

  • Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders. An ability to influence for greater outcomes.

  • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented.

  • Proven track record of successfully working with commercial and IT business partners to successfully design, deploy, and manage a field focused CRM (e.g. Veeva).

  • Demonstrated success in establishing/creating new operational processes and implementing across departments.

  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
