The Program Management team within Clinical Development at Moderna is responsible for driving program teams forward in the development of novel mRNA medicines for a wide range of diseases, conditions, and world health. Moderna is seeking a motivated and energetic Director, Program Management to help expand the global public health portfolio to 15 vaccine programs targeting priority pathogens that threaten global public health, advancing these vaccines into clinical studies by 2025. This role will work in close partnership with the Head of Vaccine Access and Partnerships, the Infectious Disease Therapeutic Head and key cross-functional leads to shape the strategies, operating models, and to drive cross-functional integration/execution. This may be accomplished both by individual contributions as a Program Manager and through hiring, developing, and managing a Program Management team. The successful candidate will have Program Management experience across multiple phases of development (preferably pre-IND into Phase 1) in Infectious Disease and a history of direct line management of others.
Heres What Youll Do:
The Program Management Director of Public Health will be involved in high-level supervision of the programs by:
Leveraging organizational dynamics and governance to promote Public Health portfolio goals.
Building relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of functional, program and portfolio objectives.
Building, mentoring, and training a program management team to support programs, as required based on the Public Health Portfolio strategy
Working with the Portfolio Analytics & Governance team, Finance group and other applicable functions to implement and track portfolio budget, quarterly reforecast, and long-range plans.
Contributing to Program Management initiatives to support development and scaling of capabilities, tools, and processes.
Additional scope may include individual contributions as a Program Manager involved in high-level supervision of one or more programs by:
Partnering with cross-functional teams and program leader(s) to shape program strategy and drive execution plans; scenario plan to solve problems; proactively identify and escalate gaps and challenges.
Administering the day-to-day activities, including, facilitating cross-functional team meetings, leading discussions to drive decision-making, preparing agendas and meeting minutes, tracking activities against program timelines and budget, defining and resolving actions items.
Coordinating team efforts to develop impactful presentations to summarize complex topics into critical points to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making at team or governance meetings.
Working with the Portfolio Analytics & Governance team and Finance group to implement and track program budget(s).
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:
Proven track record of successful program management across multiple phases of development (preferably pre-IND into Phase 1) in Infectious Disease
Prior success as a direct line manager of others; experience building a new team preferred.
Prior experience managing across a portfolio of products in development
Strong knowledge of project management tools and software (i.e. MS Project, Smartsheet)
Must be adept at working in a fluid environment and foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally.
Strong personal skills to influence without authority, motivate others and manage conflict.
Strong written and oral communication skills as well as demonstrated organizationalaptitude
BA/BS degree in a scientific field or public health with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting or MS/advanced degree in a scientific field or public health with at least 8 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.
