Job Details

Company Description

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

As a Research Associate at Eikon, you will join an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals with outstanding expertise in the Company’s core platform technologies. You will collaborate with scientists to establish and validate orthogonal biochemical and biophysical assays that will be critical in aiding our single particle drug discovery platform and SAR campaigns. You will work with a team of biologists, chemists, computer scientists, and microscope engineers who rely on the assays that you develop to drive drug discovery.

About You

  • You’re a rigorous experimentalist who takes pride in your ability to execute at the bench
  • You pay attention to detail, have good documentation, organizational, and communication skills
  • You’re inquisitive, love learning and are eager to take on challenges
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy pushing the boundary of what is possible
  • You’re resourceful and like to work independently, but are not shy to ask for advice and are responsive to feedback

What You’ll Do

  • Work with scientists to provide biochemical support to drug discovery programs in the Eikon pipeline
  • Design, purify, and characterize proteins using bacterial and insect cell expression systems
  • Understand and perform common biochemical and biophysical assays
  • Generate high-quality and reproducible data in support of project team goals
  • Analyze and interpret data, and keep detailed and organized records to report to project teams
  • Be able to adapt to new and fast-evolving methods and techniques
  • Interact with other researchers and scientists to discuss ongoing project needs
  • Perform practical lab work, schedule day-to-day tasks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality results

Qualifications

  • Research Associate: BS or MS in Biochemistry or related discipline, with 2-5 years of academic or industry experience in biology-related research
  • Senior Research Associate: BS degree and 6+ years or MS degree and 4+ years of industry experience in a biochemistry or protein sciences group
  • Experience with protein expression, purification, and characterization (affinity chromatography, IEX, SEC, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot) is required
  • Experience with biochemical assays (FI, TRF, FP, ELISA) is highly desired
  • Experience with biosensor techniques (SPR or BLI) is a plus
  • Experience with quantitative and/or statistical analysis using common software tools (GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Suite, etc.) is a plus

Eikon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment.

In accordance with the Company’s duty to provide and maintain a safe workplace, the Company requires all employees to be Fully Vaccinated with one of the FDA approved COVID-19 vaccines, which includes those vaccines that have received the FDA’s emergency use authorization.  You will be expected to be Fully Vaccinated as of your Start Date.  If you believe that you are exempt from this requirement under an applicable law or regulations, including Americans with Disabilities Act and California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act, you will need to contact the Company’s Human Resources group. For purposes of this section, Fully Vaccinated means (i) the completion of the vaccination regimen as approved by the FDA (by way of example, 2 doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and 1 dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine), and (ii) timely receiving booster vaccination, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Company

Eikon is a pioneering drug discovery and development company that leverages superior engineering and high-performance computing to analyze single molecule protein behavior in living cells. We are engineering a battery of innovative tools and technologies for biological exploration in drug discovery and beyond.

Eikon thrives on the energy and creativity of interdisciplinary teams. We are physicists and chemists, biologists and engineers. We spend our days context-switching between multiple scientific languages. We work with lasers, super-resolution microscopes, and robot arms. We leverage machine learning, cell line engineering, and the collective intelligence of world-class scientists and technologists to observe therapeutically relevant biology in a way no one has before.

We’re endlessly curious, intellectually honest and we love what we do. We’re driven to learn the true mechanisms of biology and pharmacology at the molecular level, to make the biggest difference in as many lives as possible.
