The Bioreactor Scale-up and Development group within the Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development (PMPD) organization is seeking a highly motivated and hard-working process development engineer to support the biologics pipeline both experimentally and computationally.

A Typical Day in the Role Might Look Like:
  • Support and lead data science projects to optimize process scale up (reduce number of batches needed for process characterization and optimize process performance comparability across scales).
  • Support process development engineers with scale dependent parameter characterization DOEs (statistical experiment design and data analysis).
  • Design and conduct experiments to verify empirical data models and mechanistic engineering models. Analyze data and interprets results of experiments within context of project goals.
  • Support scale up of commercially enabling processes from bench scale to pilot and manufacturing scales.
  • Support manufacturing investigations related to scale up and process transfer across sites.
  • May support development of process equipment 3D CAD models and CFD simulations
  • Communicate project updates and results to project team and supervisor. Present at department meetings. Responsible for writing technical reports that require minimal revisions.
  • Keep up with the latest scientific and engineering developments by reading the current literature and attending conferences.

This Role Might Be For You If You:

  • Have a foundation of basic scientific/engineering knowledge obtained through academic training and/or experience
  • Have experience with SAS JMP or SIMCA
  • Display strong interpersonal communication, analytical, computer, and technical writing skills.
  • Can work on different projects simultaneously.
  • Possesses knowledge of bioreactor operations and scale up. Mammalian cell culture knowledge is preferred.
  • Are diverse in data analytics and programming

This role requires a Bachelor's Degree with 2-3 years of experience OR Master's Degree with 0-2 years of experience, with a degree in Biomedical Engineering/Chemical Engineering, Computational Biology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Data Science or related fields.
