Nurix Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule therapies designed to modulate cellular protein levels as a novel treatment approach for cancer and immune disorders. Leveraging Nurix’s extensive expertise in E3 ligases together with its proprietary DNA-encoded libraries, Nurix has built DELigase, an integrated discovery platform to identify and advance novel drug candidates targeting E3 ligases, a broad class of enzymes that can modulate proteins within the cell. Nurix’s drug discovery approach is to either harness or inhibit the natural function of E3 ligases within the ubiquitin proteasome system to selectively decrease or increase cellular protein levels.
Nurix’s wholly owned pipeline comprises targeted protein degraders of Bruton’s tyrosine kinase, a B-cell signaling protein, and inhibitors of Casitas B-lineage lymphoma proto-oncogene-B, an E3 ligase that regulates T cell activation. Nurix is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
Nurix is seeking a scientist with a background in protein experimentation to join its technology development (Tech Dev) department. This role is a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious opportunity for a person possessing both clear-eyed imagination and rigorous logic.
The Tech Dev department is dedicated to the identification and invention of processes that improve the Nurix drug discovery pipeline; technologies and methods related to DNA-encoded library (DEL), biophysics/enzymology, and protein degradation are examples of the scope of our work.
The nature of the work in Tech Dev requires challenging hidden assumptions, and subsequently championing projects from silkworm size to immense, which are often too interdisciplinary to be handled by a single scientist. So, while creativity and a first principles approach to analysis will both be important traits in the person who will enjoy this role, conscientiousness and engagement with your fellow expert scientists will be critical for your success in this role.
Nurix is an organization that values the long-term development of both our science and scientists; the Tech Dev department’s commitment to improving the drug discovery process is an example of our culture of improvement in action. As a member of Tech Dev, you will be guaranteed exposure to multiple disciplines and the chance to develop a deep understanding of pharmaceutical research as a natural course of your career. In terms of daily work, the combination of creativity and teamwork means this role comes with support from experienced colleagues, and the autonomy to work at your comfort of daily oversight. For these reasons, we can accommodate a range of experience in our candidate provided they count among their strengths the virtues described above (creativity, logic and conscientiousness). We look forward to meeting you.
