Lets do this. Lets change the world. During this program, you will have the opportunity to work within the Facilities & Engineering Department at the Amgen Rhode Island (ARI) Operations Facility. Coaching, mentorship, and guidance will be provided to you as you engage in the following activities:

  • Assist in troubleshooting and repair of process equipment and systems

  • Assist in general fabrication and welding activities

  • Ensure activities are accomplished in a safe manner and with quality

  • Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and cGMPs

  • Ensure work is appropriately communicated to supervisors, system operators and key stakeholders

  • Ensure work order documentation is completed accurately and completely

  • Identify waste, work flow interrupters, and other opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and assist with implementation

  • Identify opportunities to learn new skills and actively participate in development that will improve overall team performance

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelors Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

  • Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

  • Enrolled in a full-time Bachelors degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the co-op

Preferred Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in (or recent graduate of program in) mechanical, mechanical engineering/technology, welding or equivalent field

  • Basic machining, welding and fabrication skills

  • Ability to understand drawings, P&IDs and equipment schematics and wiring diagrams

  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and adaptability
