Intern - Clinical Operations, Inflammation

Clinical Operations is an organization committed to the strategic execution of clinical studies in support of Gilead's clinical development programs. Clinical Trials Management (CTM) ensures effective design, implementation and management of global clinical trials covering all of Gilead's Therapeutic Areas from Phase I-IV. The CTM teams work with our many internal and external partners to ensure our studies are carried out following all regulatory guidelines, protect the safety of Gilead's patients and generate high quality data in a cost-effective manner. The groups direct every step of the clinical study management process from initial protocol development and study startup through management and closeout activities, providing oversight and project management throughout the process.

Inflammation is part of Clinical Operations and provides functional support, overseeing operational implementation and execution of the inflammation strategy in clinical trials across all of Gilead's Therapeutic Areas from Phase I-IV.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Clinical Project Assistants provide administrative support and assistance to the Clinical Operations function including set-up, maintenance and reconciliation of the Trial Master File for studies. They may assist Clinical Operations teams with study set-up (preparation of study materials, Investigator Meeting planning, etc.) and keeps Clinical Trial tracking program up to date with site contact, initiation and enrollment details. They will prepare and deliver a presentation based on an agreed upon project topic at the end of the internship.

Position Requirements:
  • Assists with tracking and shipping of biomarker samples and sample reconciliation across projects
  • Tracking and preparing study-specific information utilizing databases, spreadsheets, and other tools.
  • Assist with development of documents for site binders
  • Assembles and prepares distribution of site binders.
  • Assist in TMF filing
  • Under close supervision reviews and participates in the quality assurance of data or documents
  • Arranges meeting logistics, agendas, and responsible for producing minutes for designated studies and meetings Interacts with other departments as directed to complete assigned tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required
  • Showcase your work with a final poster board presentation near the conclusion of your internship


Required Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor's/Masters/MBA/PhD program at an accredited US based university or college
  • Must be a Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in undergrad or a Graduate or Doctoral Student
  • Must be enrolled full-time in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
  • Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between May and August
  • Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship
  • Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and first booster shot

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
