The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Patient Engagement & Advocacy, the Sr Manager, Clinical Trial Diversity & Inclusion plays a key role in implementing strategies for clinical trials that drive the recruitment and retention of diverse populations representative of the epidemiology of the diseases under study. This role will work closely with study teams and investigative sites to develop program and site level demographic goals, oversee strategies to achieve the established demographic targets, and drive study teams to implement these strategies throughout the execution of the trial.

This role will reinforce Modernas commitment to inclusive research by conducting presentations and trainings to investigative sites on the importance of representative diversity in clinical trials. This role will also support efforts to identify the barriers that currently impede inclusion and will work with study teams, community organizations, and Modernas health equity officer to implement initiatives and approaches to more efficiently identify, engage, recruit, and retain study participants from diverse communities.

Heres What Youll Do:

  • Establish and implement study level diversity strategy, taking into consideration the epidemiology of the disease, and considerations for site selection

  • Work with Clinical Operations Teams to support efforts to map out wider eligibility criteria earlier in the drug development process

  • Establish and oversee study specific demographic targets across the D&I spectrum

  • Leverage analytic dashboards and metrics to track progress, adapt strategy, and evolve roadmap

  • Communicate and partner with cross-functional teams to change internal culture and behaviors to strengthen understanding of disease disparities and effects on diverse populations

  • Review study specific clinical trial materials to ensure cultural sensitivity and health literacy guidelines are followed

  • Provided coaching, conscious inclusion trainings, and tools for study teams and investigative sites to support their efforts in reaching diverse communities

  • Present diversity goals and rationale to study teams and at investigator meetings

  • Identify context specific barriers to trial participation across therapeutic areas and work with PR&R team to map out potential solutions to address gaps

  • Contribute new ideas and approaches to help expand the reach of clinical trials into diverse communities

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelors degree required with at least 6 years of experience in clinical trials (US & OUS)

  • Knowledge & experience in clinical trial operations, managing patient enrollment initiatives or working with cross functional teams

  • Experience interpreting quantitative data and analyzing metrics

  • Ability to champion the voice of underserved populations

  • Knowledge of current regulatory requirements and guidelines governing clinical trial diversity, health equity, and population metrics

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and successfully manage multiple projects

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently

  • A collaborative spirit, the ability to see anothers point of view, empathy, and the ability to identify a path forward in ambiguous situations

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to lead and influence without authority

  • Ability to successfully develop and maintain strong working relationships between both cross-functional internal colleagues and external stakeholders
