Job Details

As a member of the Regeneron Law Department’s Transactions Law Group, this attorney will draft, review, negotiate, and provide counsel on a wide array of agreements across Regeneron business units, while also serving as a subject matter authority for the other members of Transaction Law to advise generally on privacy law topics, on the strategy regarding appropriate privacy provisions in contracts and consulting on individual agreements.  This attorney will also serve as a liaison to the Regeneron Data Privacy office on data privacy policy questions and approaches. The level of counseling requires a deep understanding of life sciences and general business transactions and data privacy, as well as outstanding drafting and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with contract law, data privacy, and in effectively and collaboratively counseling clients.


A typical day might include the following:

  • Providing legal support for a wide variety of business transactions, which may include research collaboration agreements, master services agreements, consulting services agreements, license agreements, data use agreements, laboratory services agreements and confidentiality agreements, among others.
  • Maintaining subject matter expertise in data privacy laws and the Regeneron privacy policies and advising Transaction Law colleagues and clients on developments of importance.
  • Providing ongoing one-on-one support to members of the Transaction Law team and coordinating with internal teams and external resources to negotiate and finalize data privacy language in third-party agreements.
  • Responding to domestic and international privacy contracting questions.
  • Managing updates to data privacy contracting playbook.
  • Creating data privacy contracting tools and training materials.
  • Managing office hours with internal business partners.
  • Developing and training on privacy contracting tools and requirements.
  • Act as liaison for the Transactions Law Group with the Data Privacy Office on data privacy policy questions and approaches.

To be considered for this position you must possess a JD with excellent law school credentials. Licensed to practice law in New York or be eligible for licensure as a registered in-house counsel is preferred. At least 6 to 10 years of legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house, including biotech/pharmaceutical and/or health care experience.  Solid understanding of contracts and related law.  Experience working in/with biotech/pharmaceutical industry; Experience with contracts involving data privacy; Experience with contracts involving intellectual property.  You should also have a high level of business acumen; Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills. Exceptional oral and written communication skills; Exceptional interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
