Kezar Life Sciences (NASDAQ: KZR), a clinical-stage biotechnology company located in South San Francisco, is seeking a Director / Sr. Director of Human Resources. This position will report to the SVP of Finance and Business Operations and is responsible for the overall strategic development and execution of the department to support a growing biotechnology company. The ideal candidate is an experienced and enthusiastic individual dedicated to aligning the cultural and business needs of an organization.

Kezar is focused on small molecule drug discovery and development to target immune-mediated diseases and cancer. Kezar’s lead product candidate, KZR-616, a selective inhibitor of the immunoproteasome, is being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of severe autoimmune diseases. KZR-261, Kezar’s first oncology candidate targeting the protein secretion pathway via the Sec61 translocon, is now being studied in a Phase 1 clinical trial in several oncology indications.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with senior management to implement HR policies that support the company’s strategic vision, business plan and corporate goals
  • Provide leadership and comprehensive strategy on all aspects of the HR function including but not limited to performance management, employee relations, training and development, retention, compensation, benefits, talent acquisition and compliance
  • Build on Kezar’s excellent culture while developing and implementing structure and programs to drive cross-collaboration, communication, and productivity
  • Grow the HR team to support success in a rapidly growing organization
  • Oversee Human Resource compliance:
    • maintain and expand knowledge of existing and proposed federal and state laws / regulations affecting human resource management
    • Identify trends that could affect organizational objectives and operational resources
    • Interpret appropriate laws and policies and advise management and employees accordingly

REQUIREMENTS and SKILLS

  • A BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a human resource role with at least 5 years in Life Sciences
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills; demonstrated ability to build a team and inspire
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related regulations
  • Robust organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Solid experience with human resources information systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • SHRM or PHR certification preferred
