In this vital role you will provide complex strategic and operational business support to the Vice President of Global Patient Safety (GPS) to drive and implement strategy, goals and initiatives and represent Global Patient Safety within Amgen. You will collaborate cross-functionally at key R&D interfaces.

Responsibilities:
  • Identifying operational objectives for GPS
  • Leading and managing the annual and multi-year planning processes
  • Acting as a confidential advisor to VP in developing strategies to improve the quality, efficiency, and responsiveness of GPS.
  • Design and own implementation plans for key safety initiatives.
  • Investigating and resolving routine day to day business operational issues on behalf of VP.
  • Finding opportunities for GPS to use cross-program strengths to take advantage of new opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining business relationships across departments within Global Patient Safety and cross-functionally across Amgen.
  • Leading GPS process improvement initiatives across Amgen.
  • Ownership of Amgens Record Retention Series Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessments, Analysis and Adverse Events
  • Using personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions for the GPS operational strategy and management of processes between GPS LMS Assessors, GSP leadership, CRDCs Training & Development group, organizational change management and planning.
  • Investigate, plan and implement strategically effective and relevant guidance for the organization of GPS infrastructure (e.g. SharePoint)
GPS Strategy:
  • Facilitate GPS goal setting and initiatives and track results
  • Act as an advisor to the VP on key activities and departmental issues
  • Interact with executive level staff on behalf of the VP of Global Patient Safety
  • Identify and resolve upcoming issues within Global Patient Safety and work with partners as needed
  • Establish, develop and/or drive implementation of communication and staff engagement plans
  • Provide guidance on GPS messaging and develop as appropriate, internal presentations including All-Staff presentations, cross-functional presentations on GPS and reports on business performance
  • Represent the goals for GPS and partner with other functions such as Human Resources and Finance in support of GPS objectives
  • Lead initiatives/process improvement opportunities as designated by VP
  • As Decision Making Superuser, drive effective decision making in Global Patient Safety
  • Manage and implement daily assigned tasks upon request of VP
GPS Operations:

Oversee management and collaborate with SVP SPO across departments within Global Patient Safety and with appropriate partners on:

  • Resource and budget management
  • Business Operations
  • Work with GPS senior leadership team to assure compliance with Amgen corporate required assignments and GPS training strategy and training plans
  • Other activities specific to GPS
  • Undertake activities delegated by the QPPV as detailed in the PV System Master File and maintain a state of inspection readiness
  • Be representative and point of contact for Health Authority Inspection and Internal Process Audits within the remit of role and responsibility
  • Performs other duties related to the position as necessary as defined in Standard Operating Procedures or as requested by supervisor
  • Strong verbal / written communication skills, including facilitation, listening & presentation skills

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex information, formulate a recommendation and own the implementation

Doctorate degree and 2 years of related experience

Or

Masters degree and 4 years of related experience

Bachelors degree and 6 years of related

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of related experience
