The Finance Manager serves as the finance business partner to several groups within the Business Innovation (BI) organization, providing financial support and guidance to various stakeholders across the organization. This role is responsible for OpEx budget and forecast management, as well as reporting and analytics across multiple BI teams and consolidating financials for the total BI organization.

Job Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director FP&A – R&D/BI and in collaboration with other finance team members in the R&D/BI FP&A team, the Finance Manager provides financial support to the BI organization. Key activities include:

  • Lead and coordinate budget and forecast processes with clients and other internal stakeholders to ensure quality, accuracy and timeliness of forecast and budget submissions. Adapt and implement finance tools and processes to support the new organization

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to manage budgets within authorized targets, support decision making and drive efficiency savings. Represent Finance on respective leadership teams

  • Prepare financial projections/analyses; identify trends/opportunities and proactively make recommendations for action to manage the budget and optimize resource allocation

  • Manage month-end close process, including booking of monthly accruals

  • Monitor and proactively report business performance, partnering with the DSCoE on all standard reporting

  • Serve as primary FP&A contact for the total BI organization; consolidate total BI financials and coordinate with PC1/Partner of Choice finance team as needed

  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analyses as well as partner with BI teams to provide insights and prepare business cases on potential investments

  • Partner with CSI (Commercial Strategy & Innovation) team to forecast and track execution of project spend and maintain the POD tool as necessary

  • Maintain and reconcile the BD Funding pool and coordinate necessary budget transfers with R&D Finance teams

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts within the broader R&D/BI Finance organization

  • Ensure compliance with all fiduciary responsibilities and finance policies

Required basic qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance or Accounting.

  • 5 years of relevant work experience

  • Prior work experience should include budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial close activities for a global organization

  • Proficiency in financial systems (Mosaic, SAP)

  • Strong financial and analytical skills with capacity to provide clear, concise and insightful analyses

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly identify problems and structure solutions

Preferred qualifications

  • MBA and/or CPA/ACA, 3 years work experience with MBA
  • Life Sciences industry experience

Other job details

  • Must be able to work from Pfizer location 2-3 days per week
