Scientist, Analytical Chemistry (LC-MS)

Our Analytical Chemistry Group is seeking a hard-working Scientist, Analytical Chemistry. Our Analytical Chemistry team develops innovative mass-spec related technologies to support Regeneron R&D programs in the context of multidisciplinary project teams.

In this role you will work in a groundbreaking analytical lab and lead analytical development and characterization of biotherapeutic drug candidates to support all stages of drug development, from early-stage selections to late-stage regulatory submissions.

• Lead analytical development and characterization of biotherapeutics, including monoclonal antibodies, bispecifics, adeno-associated virus (AAV), RNA and other biotherapeutic drug profiles to support different drug development activities.
• Develop analytical strategies and methods to elucidate and figure out quality attributes, risk assessment and control strategies, including PTMs, product and process related impurities, host cell proteins, charge variants, LMW/HMW species, sequence variants, etc. to address emerging challenges.
• Provides analytical mentorship and support for formulation development, upstream/downstream functional groups, GMP manufacturing and QC to address real-time development issues in the process development and OOT/OOS investigations.
• Presents work at the internal and external meetings; prepares and reviews development reports, memos, and regulatory submission documents in CMC (e.g., IND, IMPD, BLA, MAA, comparability and other study reports.) and peer-reviewed articles for publications;
• Serve as the team representative and provides the knowledge and expertise of analytics to cross-function teams.

You have a PhD in chemistry or biochemistry with 0-5 years of industry experience, and proven record of publications. A strong background in LC-MS with biopharma experience especially in protein therapeutics or AAV analytics is desired.

• You possess an understanding of Analytical Chemistry, have strong organization and scientific skills to develop innovative mass spectrometry-related technologies and collaborate within a matrix environment to influence cross-functional teams & senior management
• You have strong initiative to complete tasks and drive new technologies related to Formulation Development.
• Having knowledge or experience in both upstream and downstream process development is preferred. Expertise in mass spectrometry principles and applications for protein characterization and process development, with keen analytical and problem-solving skills, especially for Orbitraps, GC-MS, ICP-MS, Q-TOF and/or Triple-quadruple MS systems desired.
• Extensive hand-on experiences and trouble-shooting skills on separation science (e.g. U/HPLC, nanoLC, SEC, IEX, HIC, HILIC, 2D-LC, CE, iCIEF, etc.) needed. Proficiency in LC and MS-related software, such as Xcalibur, MassLynx, MassHunter, Proteome Discoverer, Byonics, Skyline, Empower desired.
• Abilities in computer programming and bioinformatics a plus.
• Experience with liquid handling and automation systems is a plus.
