IDEAYA Biosciences (NASDAQ: IDYA) is a public, clinical-stage synthetic lethality-focused precision medicine oncology company committed to the discovery and development of targeted therapeutics for patient populations selected using DNA sequencing and other molecular diagnostics. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance and Controller, the Director / Head of Financial Planning and Analysis will lead and own the FP&A function within the company, including annual budgeting and operating  plan processes, variance analysis and tracking of operating expenses, headcount reporting, clinical accruals, long-range planning and scenario modeling and analysis, among other duties.

What You'll Do

    • Lead the organization in the annual budget / operating plan process and conduct financial forecasts and budget analysis
    • Drive the long-range planning process and corporate valuation model discussion in collaboration with cross-functional teams
    • Develop and coordinate the quarterly financial reporting package for senior management, and the company’s Audit Committee and Board of Directors
    • Conduct the actuals vs budget variance analysis and identify the key drivers for the business
    • Manage the clinical accrual process, including review of applicable CRO, CMC and other vendor contracts. Work closely with clinical development team and proactively interact with vendors to gather and analyze relevant information to ensure all accruals are complete, accurately computed, documented and recorded
    • Establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as clinical team, translational team, research team and external CROs and become trusted finance partner across the organization
    • Participate on high-priority valuation or corporate development projects, including analyses supporting clinical program investment decisions
    • Lead periodic business reviews to analyze results and key information and provide actionable insights to business
    • Lead and manage the ongoing financial planning tool implementation
    • Present regular communication and presentations to Company’s senior management team
    • Data steward of company’s master data structure by designing and integrating the data dimensions with various systems  
    • Develop in-depth understanding of business drivers; build and maintain a dashboard of key performance indicators
    • Continuously drive process improvement and efficiencies in financial planning and analysis and production of reporting packages

Requirements

    • Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field; CFA or MBA or advanced degree preferred
    • 10+ of progressive experience and demonstrated growth including a minimum of 5 years in Finance / FP&A required; Life Sciences / Pharma / Biotech experience required.
    • Exceptional financial modeling skill using advanced excel and PowerPoint skills consulting / investment banking experience preferred
    • Prior experience with ERP systems, Financial Planning tools and other financial systems implementations required; Adaptive Insights experience preferred
    • Deep understanding of finance and financial business drivers in biotech
    • Positive work ethic, superb communication, and organizational skills with a high attention to detail, and unquestionable integrity and personal ethics
    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the ability to think strategically
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills, a highly analytical and inquisitive work style coupled with a keen attention to detail - while retaining the ability to see the big picture
