What You Will Achieve

The Process Automation Engineer will have overall responsibility for successful operation and support of automated equipment in R1 Filling (e.g. automated filling lines, sterilizers etc.) This includes equipment controls, monitoring and SCADA systems, and networked engineering data collection. This individual will provide oversight, support and compliance monitoring during operation and change management of filling automated equipment/production line(s). The Process Automation Engineer will provide the necessary leadership, expertise, and engagement of internal and external resources to ensure the operational success of Filling Operations.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Responsible for oversight and support during operations and change management of R1 Filling Operations automated equipment with primary focus of newly installed automated TS production line.

  • Lead/Supports technical improvement projects aimed at defect reduction, improved equipment reliability, and better equipment utilization.

  • Troubleshooting issues to root cause and recommending and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions

  • Routinely monitor production process to recommended automation/engineering process solutions/improvement

  • Implementation of compliance initiatives including monitoring of system security procedures and practices, review of audit trails, and conducting data integrity audits.

  • Responsible for organizing studies and/or test runs and manufacturing engineering support.

  • Ensure conformance and assessment of cumulative change impact.

  • Partner with leads in manufacturing, automation, technical services, reliability engineering and validation to ensure proper project management of CI and CAPA projects.

  • Work with OEM to support and troubleshoot automation issues.

Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Applicant must have High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with eight years of relevant experience;

  • OR an Associate's degree with six years of experience;

  • OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of experience;

  • OR a Master’s degree with more than one year of experience.

  • Experience with process controls equipment including PLCs, DCSs, HMIs, EAMS or electronic maintenance systems, SCADA systems, SQL relational database systems, Data historians and Network infrastructure including design and testing skills.

  • Prior experience includes strong knowledge, support and capability related to manufacturing operations, methods and practices.

  • Display good interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills (written and oral).

  • Experience with office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint is required.

Nice-to-Have
  • Ideal candidate will have broad experience in a pharmaceutical environment with a hands-on understanding of control and data acquisition systems, IT infrastructures, automated calibration and maintenance management systems

  • Strong knowledge of Computerized Systems Compliance regulations and standards including but not limited to cGMP, EU, GAMP, ISA, Data Integrity etc.

  • Experience in designing and implementing PLC, SCADA, OPC, Data Management or networked automated systems and electronic batch records.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management to timelines and budgets

  • Manage capital projects from conceptual phases through equipment installations including planning and scheduling experience in these activities.

  • Experience with cGMP compliance, commissioning, validation and continuous improvement.

  • Have hands-on experience with engineering design, commissioning and validation.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to stand for extended hours for test runs

  • Able to climb ladders/steps

  • Able to lift items of 25lbs

  • Candidate will require general gowning training and execute responsibilities according to area specific procedures.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm

  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays and/or weekends as needed.

  • Flexibility with work schedule onsite (majority)/ offsite (remote)

  • Availability to support operations during non-working hours
