The Role:

The Senior Manager, Biomarker Business Operations will be tasked with facilitating operational excellence across the Modernas Clinical Biomarkers ecosystem. The qualified candidate will take on responsibilities for ensuring operational efficiency related to general biomarker operations, budget forecasting, contracting, compliance, legal review, as well as technical, operational, and administrative best practices. This position will work closely with the Biomarker Program Specialist team and business operations partners throughout Moderna and will liaison broadly with internal groups such as finance, contracts, procurement, legal, and quality. The ideal candidate will have a background in areas such as: product management, research/commercial operations, finance, or project management, preferably within the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotech space.

Heres What Youll Do:

  • Provide hands-on assistance, in identifying and implementing operational improvements across the Clinical Biomarkers portfolio

  • Work closely with finance and CDO financial operations management to support and manage financial planning deliverables, such as quarterly forecasting, actuals reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and long-range planning

  • Proactively engage the broader Biomarker team to assess challenges and anticipate business needs to collaboratively strategize and implement concrete action plans to create solutions.

  • Design and drive execution of key biomarker operational initiatives, business process implementation, dashboard development, and alignment of priorities to drive operational excellence.

  • Partner with teams across the Moderna business ecosystem; finance, legal, procurement, contracts, and quality, to maximize business performance, efficiency, collaboration, and harmony.

  • Become a point of contact for the Biomarker Program Specialist team to internally communicate the priorities of various activities to other internal teams (i.e. contract, finance, audit prioritizations)

  • Implement and/or optimize core operational tools/processes for reporting, tracking, data collection, synthesis, budgets, integration, scenario-planning, risk, and stakeholder management.

  • Be a thought partner to problem-solve, aid in implementing strategies that drive maximum potential realization, and shape the direction of the Clinical Biomarkers daily business operations

  • Have visibility, bandwidth, and influence to drive completion of all deliverables and key responsibilities, building and leveraging relationships with key stakeholders (team members and leadership) and organizational dynamics to promote program goals.

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

  • Advanced degree (MBA or life sciences MS) and substantial experience required, with 5-8 years post-degree experience in an operational role at biotechnology or pharmaceutical organization strongly preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize, manage and drive multiple workstreams involving different key stakeholders.

  • Effective communication with colleagues of various backgrounds, including scientific, technical, business, and legal staff.

  • Ability to develop trust with cross-functional stakeholders and influence without authority.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills. In addition, attentive to detail, with the ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment.

  • Core project management strengths with tools and best practices for reporting, tracking, data collection, synthesis, budgets, integration, scenario-planning, risk and stakeholder management.

  • Strong track-record in implementing strategies that drive maximum potential realization

  • Must be adept at working in a fluid environment and foster a strong collaborative spirit internally and externally.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as demonstrated organizationalaptitude

  • Experience with tier 1 ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and planning and reporting tools preferred
