Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We wantall ofour people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will Achieve More with Intellia:

As a Scientist in the Non-Viral Vector Biology group you will help advance Intellia’s gene editing platform and pipeline. This role will apply new approaches to engineer and optimize non-viral payloads for gene editing. This role will work cross-functionally with team members in groups across the organization including disease biology, pre-clinical, manufacturing, bioinformatics, and formulations.

  • Independently plan and execute experiments to optimize delivery of nucleic acid payloads to cells using non-viral methods

  • Interpret and communicate data as part of multi-disciplinary teams

  • Regularly survey primary research literature and patents

  • Demonstrate strong abilities in experimental troubleshooting and optimization

  • Contribute to the strategy and direction of Intellia’s platform and pipeline

  • Present findings internally and externally to cross-functional teams

  • Maintain a detailed electronic laboratory notebook

About You:

We are seeking an innovative scientist with experience delivering RNA and DNA into mammalian cells using non-viral methods. The ideal candidate thrives on working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, displays outstanding communication skills, and is passionate about pioneering new gene-editing technologies to treat human disease. Other important qualities include:

  • Advanced degree in Molecular/Cell Biology, Genetics, Virology, Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, or a closely related field

  • Experience with one or more of the following:

    • DNA repair pathways

    • Intracellular transport and trafficking

    • Virus/Host interactions and immunogenicity

    • Design and delivery of viral or non-viral vectors

    • Gene editing technologies such as CRISPR/Cas9

    • NGS-based genetic screening and automation

  • Excellent bench skills with attention to detail and high standards for data integrity and quality

  • Strong communication skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively

  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology methods and a passion for applying new techniques and technologies

Title will be based on experience level

Meet your Future Team:

The Platform Innovation team is a collaborative, energetic, and passionate group of individuals whose mission is to advance and differentiate Intellia’s platform to enable curative therapies. The candidate will join a team with vector design and production expertise and work closely with leaders in the field of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. In this role, the candidate will have many opportunities to broaden his or her experience with multiple cutting-edge gene therapy technologies that advance Intellia’s pipeline.

Although some daily operations may be performed from the home office, the team is currently working mostly onsite to execute projects in a wet-lab environment. Our in-person interactions promote strong relationships between all members of the team, enhance scientific expertise, and generate a supportive community for the growth of young scientists interested in a career in the biotech industry. Therefore, the candidate must be local to Cambridge MA, or open to relocating. If you join us, you can expect to be part of a hardworking and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team to make a difference in patients’ lives.

Covid-19 Vaccination Policy: All Intellia employees, regardless of work location, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This requirement includes a booster dose once eligible. Requests for exemption for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs will be considered.

Intellia will make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with known disabilities, in accordance with applicable law.

Company

Many of us pursuing work in the biotechnology industry are inspired by a loved one who is living with a disease or the loss of someone in our community. Rare genetic and oncological and immunological diseases not only affect the people living with often debilitating and life-threatening symptoms, but these disorders also significantly impact their families, friends and caregivers.

Our researchers work tirelessly to harness the genome editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 for human therapeutic use. Jennifer Doudna, an Intellia co-founder, and Emmanuelle Charpentier were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR. We at Intellia are humbled to have a hand in making what we believe to be medical history. As a leader in this space, we take this responsibility to patients seriously.

We are employing a modular genome editing platform to create diverse in vivo and ex vivo pipelines, spanning a range of therapeutic indications. Guided by this full-spectrum approach, we are committed to making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to creating novel engineered cell therapies for various cancers and autoimmune diseases.
