Supply Chain Associate

General Summary

The Supply Chain Associate supports Southern Research's supply chain management.   The Associate will be assigned to a senior level procurement professional for career development and guidance in a government regulated compliant environment. The Supply Chain Associate will collaborate with senior level Procurement staff to ensure the overall supply base execution meets Southern Research's objectives for cost, quality, compliance and schedule. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior level procurement staff with all facets of the procurement process while learning through on the job training and classroom environment the requisite documentation and essentials of the procurement process.

Position Specific

  • Maintain procurement data within the procurement system including updates to delivery dates and invoice forecasts.
  • Work with suppliers to obtain updates to delivery dates and other commitments.
  • Process invoices and work issues to resolution.
  • Create and maintain electronic procurement documentation files compliant with the Federal Acquisition Regulations and Southern Research's policies and procedures.
  • Support proposal activities.
  • Create and maintain data resulting from Supplier Assessment activities.
  • Assist with the resolution of supplier issues through analysis and reconciliation.
  • With assistance, analyze FAR part 15 compliant cost proposals.
  • With assistance, prepare and analyze price analysis and/or market research.
  • Other duties as directed by Procurement management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or other relevant discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong computer/software skills.
  • Analytical thinker, problem solver and someone who takes initiative.
  • Self motivated and results oriented.

Essential Functions/Competencies

  • Works under close supervision.
  • Follows specific, outlined, and detailed procedures and instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • This position is typically located in an office environment. 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
