Job Details

Company Description

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

As a Scientist joining at Eikon, you will be an essential part of an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals with outstanding expertise in the Company’s core platform technologies and drug discovery processes.  You’ll play a key role in advancing research pipeline, developing strategies and executing key biological studies for multiple drug discovery programs. You’ll be collaborating and working closely with a team of biologists, chemists, and engineering experts.

About You

You’re a rigorous experimentalist who takes pride in your ability to execute at the bench. You’re passionate about drug discovery and discovering effective treatments for patients. You’re conscientious, detail oriented, and organized. You’re collaborative by nature and are happy to help. You enjoy teaching and mentoring research associates. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy pushing the edge of what is possible.

What You’ll Do

  • Think scientifically, plan and execute cellular and molecular biology studies to support drug discovery programs including validating drug targets, developing disease-relevant assays, and elucidating compounds’ mechanisms of action
  • Mentor junior research associates to conduct laboratory experiments. Keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results
  • Interpret and present scientific findings to research meetings Provide scientific input and propose well-thought study plans
  • Collaborate and communicate across a diverse research team to successfully progress scientific goals

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related field with 4+ years of post-graduate research experience. Industry experience is not required but preferred
  • Experience in target discovery through in-depth genetic and pharmacological studies, functional genomics or other omics-based approaches
  • Proficiency in standard cell and molecular biology techniques, e.g. mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, PCR, RT-qPCR, WB, fixed or live-cell fluorescent imaging, flow cytometry, RNAi, shRNA, lentiviral generation and transduction, CRISPR, Sanger and NGS sequencing, etc.
  • Experience with setting up in vitro disease relevant cellular assays in 2D or 3D spheroids in studying compounds’ effect
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly and build open collaborative relationships is essential

Eikon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment.

In accordance with the Company’s duty to provide and maintain a safe workplace, the Company requires all employees to be Fully Vaccinated with one of the FDA approved COVID-19 vaccines, which includes those vaccines that have received the FDA’s emergency use authorization.  You will be expected to be Fully Vaccinated as of your Start Date.  If you believe that you are exempt from this requirement under an applicable law or regulations, including Americans with Disabilities Act and California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act, you will need to contact the Company’s Human Resources group. For purposes of this section, Fully Vaccinated means (i) the completion of the vaccination regimen as approved by the FDA (by way of example, 2 doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and 1 dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine), and (ii) timely receiving booster vaccination, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Company

Eikon is a pioneering drug discovery and development company that leverages superior engineering and high-performance computing to analyze single molecule protein behavior in living cells. We are engineering a battery of innovative tools and technologies for biological exploration in drug discovery and beyond.

Eikon thrives on the energy and creativity of interdisciplinary teams. We are physicists and chemists, biologists and engineers. We spend our days context-switching between multiple scientific languages. We work with lasers, super-resolution microscopes, and robot arms. We leverage machine learning, cell line engineering, and the collective intelligence of world-class scientists and technologists to observe therapeutically relevant biology in a way no one has before.

We’re endlessly curious, intellectually honest and we love what we do. We’re driven to learn the true mechanisms of biology and pharmacology at the molecular level, to make the biggest difference in as many lives as possible.
