Bioinformatics Scientist

We are currently searching for a Bioinformatics Scientist to support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC and is onsite in Bethesda, MD.

• Provide scientific support regarding the incorporation of Human Microbiome Data methodology into the activities of the program such as bioinformatics.
• Provide support for and advise on the content of all scientific papers across a range of data types. This shall include, but is not limited to:
  • Methods for 16S rRNA sequencing
  • Shotgun sequencing
  • Extraction of microbiome data from WGS of human tumor and normal tissue data, and microbial genomics.
• Assist with the mentoring of postdocs and PhD students.
• Provide support for and advise on the content of all scientific papers across a range of tissue types, including oral wash, feces, normal and cancerous tissue, etc.

• Master’s Degree or Ph.D. with a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience, preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) additional years of experience may be substituted, in lieu of an advanced degree.
• Must possess expertise in specialized domains, related to bioinformatics.
• Experience working with rRNA sequencing methodology, shotgun sequencing, and microbiome data extraction.
• Experience assisting and mentoring subordinates, useful.
