Responsibilities

The Group Leader carries responsibility for the management of the Project Management team members across BAM sites, including Torrance and Vista. The Group Leader will ensure the Project Management (PM) group tracks manufacturing projects and coordinates customer feedback and interaction related to these projects. The Project Management Group, for which the Group Leader is responsible, functions within the Sales organization ensuring that manufacturing accounts are managed appropriately supporting the Client, Production and Sales to ensure effective execution and completion of projects.

Your Tasks

  • Manage Project Management team members, ensuring effective distribution of workload amongst the team and that sufficient support is provided to team members
  • Tracking all manufacturing projects at BAM to insure that projects remain on schedule
  • Provide regular project progress updates to customers
  • Participate in project-related customer discussions and document as necessary
  • Serve as liaison between key customer contacts and technical staff at Bachem manufacturing sites
  • Complete project-related quotations and follow-up
  • Screen and interview potential new applicants and perform onboarding activities once hired
  • Ensure responsible team members are trained and training is documented as required
  • Ensure accurate Salesforce project updates and entries
  • Facilitate Project meetings and business development discussions
  • Schedule and organize customer visits to manufacturing sites
  • Compose reports and documentation as required
  • Insure compliance with contracts and agreements in conjunction with the Contract Manager
  • Maintain close communication with Sales management to insure accurate sales and revenue forecasting
  • Establish goals for the Project Management team
  • Conduct semi-annual and annual reviews of responsible Project management team members to assess performance, attainment of goals and discuss any areas of improvement
  • Work with Senior Management to develop improved processes
  • Consult with sales force regarding sales approach to specific projects and participate in sales process whenever needed
  • Attend critical scientific and trade meetings and conferences as required
  • Special projects will be assigned on occasion
  • Travel may be required as business demands dictate

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science related field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or similar)
  • 3-5 years’ laboratory experience
  • 3-5 years’ cGMP sales experience
  • 7 years’ cGMP project management experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer/system skills, especially MS Office, CRM (Salesforce), Document Control (Master Control), Document-sharing (SharePoint, ShareFile), ERP (SAP), Online and video-conferencing meetings (Skype); MS Project
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment

Preferred

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, or similar) field or MBA
  • Peptide manufacturing experience
  • Regulatory and compliance experience
  • cGMP laboratory experience
