General Scope and Summary
SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for an important role as the Executive Director, Early Development HEOR Strategy. Reporting to the Vice President, HEOR & Value Demonstration, the Executive Director has primary responsibility to support the development of global strategies to demonstrate and communicate the clinical and economic value of Sage medicines and pipeline products in development through a team of HEOR subject matter experts including strategic evidence and COA support teams. The individual will work closely with Clinical Development, Data Sciences Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Field HEOR to ensure optimal collaboration, and appropriate rigor in the design and execution of HEOR strategies and studies.
Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee development and revision of Integrated Evidence Generation Plans (IEGP) and Value Propositions through Value Access Teams (VAT).
Remain current on global HTA trends and leads early scientific advice through VAT when needed
Key deliverables from this leader and team
Lead a portfolio of asset-specific HEOR and epidemiology strategies to deliver on time and within budget.
Prioritize and routinely reevaluate HEOR and epidemiology priorities to meet internal stakeholder needs and timelines.
Provide strategic recommendations to clinical development protocols to ensure product differentiation. and value demonstration within the context of portfolio considerations.
Manage, develop and mentor a high performing global HEOR and Epidemiology team that effectively implements an HEOR strategy that is integrated and aligned with clinical development and commercialization plans.
Ensure the deliverables from HEOR met the quality and expectation of the functional head and methods employed are sufficiently robust.
Identify HEOR technical skill gaps and develop appropriate remediation steps for team.
Develop and manage department budget.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and ensure continuous and consistent communication with key internal partners on HEOR and epi projects.
Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills, ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action; excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
Minimum of 12 years of HEOR experience in the pharmaceutical industry with advanced degree in epidemiology, health economics, or related discipline (MS, MPH, PharmD, PhD).
Must possess a broad network with the health economic academic community and HTA community.
In-depth knowledge of the health care systems in the US and globally.
Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of products and be able to prioritize programs of work to align with stakeholder needs and timelines.
Seen by external peers as a subject matter expert in a core technical HEOR skill (eg PRO development, health service research methods).
Demonstrated leadership skills; proven track record of on-time delivery and results
Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders. An ability to influence for greater outcomes.
Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.
Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.
Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
