Capstan Therapeutics is developing a targeted delivery platform and therapeutics to reprogram immune cells in vivo in a scalable and controlled format, for a broad range of disease categories. The core technology originating from University of Pennsylvania comprises Targeted Lipid Nanoparticles (tLNPs) to enable off-the-shelf immunotherapies, with tight control of dosage and of activity of engineered cells. The objective is to advance transformative first-in-class and best-in-class products for oncology, fibrosis and inflammation-related diseases and blood monogenic disorders. Our dynamic start-up is founded by pioneers in the field of immunotherapy, regenerative medicine and drug delivery including experienced industry leaders and academic faculty members from U Penn.

The Opportunity

We are currently hiring a highly motivated Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join our team.  In this role, you will be responsible for the analytical development with skills in chromatographic method development for quantitative analysis and for the determination of purity/impurities.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing laboratory tasks to support the development, optimization, and sample analysis of complex samples by various chromatographic and electrophoretic separations techniques such as LC (e.g. LC-UV, LC-MS, SEC, IEX, etc.) and CE, including associated sample preparation techniques
  • Performs routine and non-routine analysis on RNA-based API, antibodies, and lipid nanoparticle drug product formulations following protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensures data integrity, including proper documentation of experimental methods, results, and conclusions in laboratory notebooks.
  • Shows initiative in identifying technical or process improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in optimizing and trouble-shooting analytical methodologies along with experimental procedures as outlined by supervisor
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing procedures, results, and data interpretation as needed
  • Support analytical equipment maintenance and organizing/maintaining inventory of analytical materials and supplies

Desired Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or M.S in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline in a field relevant to pharmaceutical analytical development with 2+ years' industry experience
  • Method development experience with a focus on liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC, SEC, IEX) for purity/impurity analysis; mass spectrometry experience is a plus
  • Strong preference is given to individuals experienced in routine cleaning, maintenance, and performance verification for HPLC systems and related hardware
  • Experience working with nucleic acids, proteins, or nanoparticles is a plus.
  • Highly adaptive and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Must be detail oriented with demonstrated ability in problem solving and organization
