This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Vaccine Access and Partnerships team and the innovative mRNA Access program. mRNA Access leverages the power of mRNA to create novel vaccines and therapeutics for global public health. As an Associate Director you will play a critical role in shaping the strategy of mRNA Access, supporting a growing network of external collaborators, facilitating communication within and without the organization and driving execution within a mission-focused, fast-paced environment. You will work cross-functionally and cross-organizationally to support mRNA Access and the early research and development programs in the global health portfolio. Your contributions will be essential to accelerating the delivery of novel mRNA medicines to transform the lives of patients.
This position reports into the Senior Director, Vaccine Access and Partnerships, and is based in Cambridge, MA.
Heres What Youll Do:
Collaborate with researchers and maintain through mRNA Access a strategically aligned Global Public Health portfolio
Guide programs through concept, strategy and execution stages and support sustainable translation into the early development space
Ensure highly effective cross-functional team and cross-organizational communication, coordination & follow-up
Employ your experience and acumen to manage key risks, prioritize and optimize workstreams, and manage change impact to ensure delivery of program outcomes
Partner with Research and Technical Development to identify, prioritize and facilitate resourcing and operational workflows necessary to enable scientific collaboration & execution
Work dynamically with external researchers to adaptively address emerging challenges
Manage tools & provide regular program updates to satisfy executive, therapeutic area and integrated program team level reporting requirements
Play a leadership role as part of the mRNA Access portfolio, utilizing a highly collaborative and influential approach to ensure program outcomes are delivered
Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Minimum Qualifications):
6 years experience as a preclinical scientist with deep understanding of mRNA platform
Experience in a project and/or program management role with a successful track record of driving early-stage product development programs with external collaborators
Masters degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent required, PhD preferred
Knowledge of project and program management tools and timeline visualization software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.). Smartsheet experience is highly preferred
Candidates with PMP or other professional project or project management credentials preferred
Experience with external alliance and/or CRO management a plus

You are comfortable acting as an owner and enjoy a highly dynamic and collaborative approach to drive program success in a fast-moving research organization
You have a strong understanding of Research and Early Development, with a special focus on mRNA and platform technologies that enable rapid product development
Experience in managing multiple external collaborative programs simultaneously, including defining integrated strategic workplans to ensure effective and coordinated delivery of outcomes across institutions
Exceptional communication skills with a strong focus on actionable outcomes and delivery
You put team before tasks by collaborating actively with all team members and supporting them
You work independently yet engage proactively with team members, colleagues, and stakeholders to get alignment and drive projects and programs forward
Experienced in leading or working within cross-functional project teams, including defining objectives and deliverables, building and maintaining project/program plans, and resource and budget management
