Job Description:

The Director, Oncology Insights Lead develops and leads projects at the interface between business analytics and the needs of a BU/brand team. The person in this role is expected to identify, prioritize, lead execution (individually and/or managing internal team members), and deliver the analyses needed to make strategic decisions. The Insights Director also priorities workflows within their BU/brand (in this case the Oncology brand Onivyde). This position reports to the Head of Business Integrated Insights who interfaces with brand team leadership and sets the strategic direction for the Business Integrated Insights unit. The position has one direct report, a Senior Manger, Oncology Insights.

The person in this role must have in-depth experience with a variety of measurement methods, strategic planning, project management, data evaluation and integration, market research, and customer insight generation. In addition, this role interacts directly with cross-functional partners in their brand unit, supports the brand planning process, and acts as a key internal consultant to assigned teams for developing brand strategy.

This dedicated Insights Lead role enhances the brand team’s trust, utilization, and oversight of the Ipsen Insights function. This role contributes to the performance of the brands by generating new ideas and improving the ability of the brand units to make better decisions.

Main Responsibilities And Job Expectations

  • Collaborate closely with leadership of the Oncology BU and Onivyde brand to align on priorities and ensure resources are effectively deployed.
  • Design and lead primary market research projects (qualitative and quantitative), including ongoing and custom studies and management of external research partners.
  • Manage collection and distribution of Competitive Intelligence, including collaboration with global partners and external vendors.
  • Partner with Commercial Information Management and Enablement team on Data Strategy and Secondary Data Analytics & Reporting
  • Define and manage scope of work and budget for all franchise Insights projects and requirements
  • Drive business need identification, qualification, and resolution while leveraging business analytics and other data-driven resources, for example: primary and secondary market research, customer intelligence, competitive intelligence, SFE – and integration of other sources of information (e.g., secondary data)
  • Lead appropriate RFPs for selection of external partners to address BU/brand opportunities (e.g., Patient Identification/Predictive Analytics, Stakeholder Co-Creation Work Sessions)
  • Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information
  • Collaborate with and influence internal stakeholders to process and prioritize new insights and analytics requests.
  • As appropriate, collect the forecasting inputs, elaborate on forecasting assumptions, and facilitate the forecasting process in collaboration with the Forecasting team
  • Participate as a key thought leader of the business planning team by challenging assumptions and identifying key risks and introducing new opportunities
  • Manage 1 direct report, a Senior Manager, Oncology Insights

Knowledge, Abilities And Experience

  • BA/BS is required; an advanced degree in a quantitative field is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years pharma/biotech experience, including at least 7 years of experience in analytics, forecasting, market research, and competitive intelligence
  • Significant experience in oncology is strongly preferred
  • Previous team management/leadership is preferred
  • Demonstrated success using research to drive insights and strategic implications that lead to business decisions
  • Thorough understanding of the commercialization of biopharmaceuticals, including brand management, sales planning and execution, market access, and regulatory environments
