What You Will Achieve

As the Data Science Business Lead for Biotherapeutics Pharmaceutical Sciences (BTxPS) you will lead data science enablement efforts that support the development of biological therapeutics in partnership with the Digital Sciences team and the extended BTxPS digital core team. You will serve as the BTxPS Transformational Technology business lead for the systems supporting analytics, data science, and data visualization and as such will be the primary contact for the business performance and data workflows associated with these systems. You will partner with colleagues across BTxPS to identify opportunities, achieve alignment, and execute implementation plans. Additionally, you will be expected to partner with other BTxPS digital focus area leads to develop a comprehensive data science enablement strategy that is scalable and sustainable. Outside of the BTxPS organization you will collaborate with the larger Medicinal Sciences Organization, Pfizer Global Supply, Pfizer Digital, and external partners as necessary.

  • Apply business knowledge to deliver on workflow optimization goals in alignment with BTxPS Digital Strategy and GMP requirements (as necessary).
  • Manage the implementation of analytics, data science, and data visualization solutions by working with Pfizer Digital, Business Lines, and Vendors to develop and execute plans for development, maintenance, and enhancements of said solutions.
  • Manage the implementation of individual applications (e.g. use cases) built using the foundational components of the analytics, data science, and data visualization systems/platforms.
  • Document and communicate processes and best practices to optimize value and achieve compliance with business rules
  • Develop and propose resource and investment plans to sustain analytics, data science, and data visualization solutions, tools, and related business operations
  • Represent business system operations in the support of all Quality (QTS) investigations for analytics, data science, and data visualization solutions in partnership with the business compliance lead.
  • Develop a customer experience network for analytics, data science, and data visualization systems to ensure business needs are prioritized and met for supported systems
  • Partner with the BTxPS Master Data Management lead to develop and leverage data standards to optimally scale analytics, data science, and data visualization solutions.
  • Partner with PGS and other external stakeholders (e.g. CRO/CMO) to optimize the exchange of knowledge & data with BTxPS
  • Use technical and business line knowledge to assess needs and propose strategies for the implementation of solutions in partnership with the BTxPS extended digital core team and Pfizer Digital.
  • Develop and manage training strategies for analytics, data science, and data visualization systems and solutions.
  • Manage external vendor relationships and ensure agreed upon objectives/services are achieved.
  • Manage a network of external technology consultants to analyze, develop, and validate individual analytics, data science, and data visualization solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, data science, computer science or related field with 7+ years’ experience in the life science industry or a Master’s degree in related field with 5+ years’ experience
  • Understanding of biologics development and the various systems and platforms required for the development of biologic therapeutics
  • Knowledge of work processes and workflows within a Pharmaceutical Sciences organization
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and track record of delivering solutions for multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work across business lines, evaluate complex business requirements, and develop harmonized business plans
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience delivering analysis results using various visualization software solutions, such as R, Spotfire, Tableau, etc.
  • Solution Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) experience
  • Experience partnering with and managing vendor consultants/contractors
  • Working experience developing and deploying analytics, data science, and data visualization solutions following data science lifecycle.
  • Experience identifying opportunities for model enhancements and opportunities for new models to create value in the biologics development space.
  • Experience with databases and data management strategies
  • Experience establishing analytics and data science training programs
  • Interest in driving advanced analytics adoption in life sciences space.
  • Experience with deploying GMP and non-GMP solutions including cloud-based solutions in a regulated environment

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional work outside business hours to accommodate other Pfizer sites, partners and manufacturing schedules.
  • Up to 10% travel to BTxPS sites (Andover, MA; St Louis, MO; Durham, NC; Cambridge, UK ).
