Position Summary:
We are looking for Principal or Senior Principal Research Scientist to help lead the Biochemistry team within the Lead Discovery group. This individual will be responsible for a small team tasked with identifying, developing, and performing robust and reproducible biochemical assays to support small molecule drug discovery and development. This position requires extensive expertise in biochemical and biophysical assay platforms to establishing robust screening cascades. Additionally, deep knowledge of enzymology supporting MoA studies are highly desired. The successful candidate will join an established and highly collaborative Lead Discovery group that also includes teams working on cell-based bioassays, biophysics, structural biology, and protein sciences.

What you'll do:

    • Lead a team for the development and implementation of biochemical SAR-driving assays.
    • Operationalize compound testing in assays and timely data analysis to support weekly discovery screening cascades.
    • Establish QC and normalization approaches, and supervise curation of experimental data following business rules (IC50s, EC50s, Z-score, Z’, CV, etc.) 
    • Routine interactions and collaboration with research informatics to establish data upload and distribution routines.
    • Manage readiness of liquid handling robotics and other assay relevant instrumentation.
    • Manage and train research staff on assay protocols and analysis approaches.
    • Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies and all applicable regulations.


Requirements:

    • PhD with >5/>8 years industry experience in a relevant biological or scientific discipline. 
    • The ideal candidate is a scientific leader in the areas of discovery and development of molecularly targeted drugs with proven experience designing robust and reproducible biochemical/biophysical assays.
    • Past success in delivering high-quality and timely compound screening results, consistently.
    • Proven experience in enzymology and the design of MoA studies to elucidate kinetic parameters and mode of inhibition.
    • Experience in bringing assays to HTS readiness is desirable. 
    • Experienced in supervising, mentoring, and developing scientific staff 
    • Strong troubleshooting, organization, and planning skills
    • Experience in electronic record keeping and assay data management with industry standard data bases
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment
