Job Description:

The Data Value Office (DVO) is a newly established unit in Global IT acting as the counterpart for business functions which is led by the Chief Data Officer (CDO). The focus of the Data Value Office is to detail and execute Ipsen’s Global Data Strategy and Analytics Strategy to unlock the full potential of data across all functions. Therefore, the Data Value Office is responsible to develop a Global Data & Analytics Operating Model, a Global Data Governance framework to support functions with the implementation of data governance as well as enabling Data Management and Analytics capabilities.  As Global Data Architect, you bear the responsibility on behalf of the Chief Data Officer to foster value creation by supporting Ipsen with the development data architecture, enterprise data model, data catalog, meta data management and related capabilities. You serve as a trusted advisor for those capabilities to the Data & Analytics Strategy Lead, Analytics Delivery Lead, enterprise architects, key IT & business executives and other stakeholders. Overall, the Global Data Architect is responsible for the creation and management of business information models in all their forms across structured and unstructured data, including conceptual models, relational database designs, message models and others. Especially the design of enterprise data models is one of the key responsibilities of this position.

Main responsibilities / job expectations

Support Ipsen’s data agenda as specialist for Information Management to accelerate data democratization

  • Take global responsibility for the development of Data Catalog, Meta Data Management, Data Architecture, Enterprise Data Model and related capabilities
  • Take over the architecture / subject matter expert role in related initiatives and guide the solutioning and implementation of capabilities across functions
  • Develop an enterprise data model for Ipsen, align this with the overall data strategy and data governance roadmap considering structured and unstructured data
  • Document enterprise data models and support implementation of data governance
  • Advise on the effectiveness of the data ecosystem and portfolio of tools and technology
  • Aligning on standards  with key data governance roles and enforcing them through solution reviews

Serve as a trusted partner

  • The Global Data Architect will act as trusted advisor to provide technical expertise and guidance for all the components that ensure enterprise-wide alignment and transparent data management e.g. Data Catalog
  • Provide guidance to individual functions how data quality and meta data management should be embedded in business processes
  • Manage a targeted awareness and training programme for relevant stakeholders

Leading Information Management initiatives

  • Takeover the product owner role for Meta Data Management solution and support implementation with internal project teams as well as implementation partners
  • Facilitate metrics and reporting frameworks to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of Information Management

Experience / Qualifications

Experience / Qualifications  

  • BSc. / MSc. / Ph.D. in Computer science or quantitative field (Statistics, Management Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Finance, etc.)
  • 6-8 years of data management experience, ideally from an IT consultancy / system integrator or an industrial company – life sciences / pharma would be an advantage
  • Functional expertise in the relevant areas of a pharmaceutical company Commercial, Finance, Research & Development, Human Resources, Supply Chain & Quality
  • Experience with assessing and implementing enterprise wide meta data management tools and data models
  • Basic knowledge of information principles and policies.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on the “bigger picture”
  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across functions at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals
  • Experience in the implementation of enterprise data catalogs
  • Experience in integrating complex and cross-corporate processes
  • Analytical skills — Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • English language
