Job Details

About The Role

The CNS team is seeking a highly trained and motivated bioinformatician or statistician to join our bioinformatics team. The team routinely performs analysis of data including, but not limited to mRNA-seq, micro RNA-seq, total RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, whole genome and exome sequencing, methylation sequencing, and micro array. You will work towards the common goal of quality control for glial cell production by integrating multiomic datasets into regulatory frameworks. In addition, daily responsibilities of data management, experimental design, optimization and maintenance of computational workflows, incorporation of new methodologies, and providing interpretable results to aid in hythothesis generation are expected. You will report on a direct basis to the CNS Genomics Lead, and work under the broader direction of the Head of CNS Therapy.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze high-throughput sequencing data generated on high-throughput sequencing instruments. This requires an extensive working knowledge of linux/unix commands, computer programming languages and application of open-source software tools.
  • Participate in experimental design and analysis of sequencing projects. This includes application and development of novel analytical methods to meet each project’s research goals, management of project milestones, and integration of multiple genomic data types.
  • Secondary analyses of processed data including expression profiling, pathway enrichment analysis, functional annotation, transcription factor binding site prediction, putative motif identification, and chromatin accessibility prediction.
  • Storage and maintenance (data management) of raw data

What We’re Looking For

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Engineering or related discipline and 1 to 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. PhD with background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience with statistical programming and data visualization using R/Bioconductor and UNIX/Linux programming required. Competency with Python, SQL preferred. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; strong organizational and analytical skills; and the ability to work in a highly cooperative team environment as well as independently is required.

What Will Separate You From The Crowd

  • Knowledge of basic statistics, linear and logistic modelling, principal component analysis, and factor analysis
  • Experience with biological data
  • Knowledge of version control (GitHub, Docker, conda) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of single cell highthroughput data (genomics, epigenomics, proteomics)

What You Should Know

  • Working safely in person on a predictable and regular in-person basis is an essential job function for this position, and the Company requires that all individuals working in-person be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including receipt of a vaccine booster shot if recommended by the CDC

How we work together

  • Lead from every seat – we seek to understand, act with honesty, and engage in the crucial conversations
  • Thrive as a team – we hire amazing people, are intensely curious, and cultivate inclusion and personal connectivity
  • Make it happen – we value vigorous debate, alignment around our decisions, and resilient execution
