Role Summary

As part of U.S. marketing, the Media Lab leads paid media efforts across the Biopharma group. The team partners with brands on media strategies to reach patients and healthcare professionals (HCPs). Core to this is advancing and innovating new media options, evolving our mix, and continually improving existing channels. The new Media Lab structure includes Planning and Platform roles to enable deeper brand insights and digital subject matter expertise. Paid Medical Media is an exciting new arena in the Platform team, focusing on paid media that helps to amplify scientific data across publications, congresses, and digital platforms.

The Director, Medical Media role is responsible for helping to develop this new practice within the Media Lab. This role will develop media strategies and plans to support the dissemination of data as a critical part of the Medical Omnichannel planning.


  • 10+ years of agency or client-side Healthcare Professional (HCP) media/digital planning experience (pharmaceutical experience required)
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Core expertise in developing strategic paid media recommendations
  • Deep digital knowledge in planning, execution, and optimization expertise across social, display, programmatic, video/peer to peer, and search paid channels focused on HCP’s
  • Familiarity with Medical publication, data dissemination and associated tactics (publications, congresses, professional associations)
  • Experience leading agency teams within an agency or client-side
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-based & cross functional environment
  • Strong presentation skills, and ability to translate media concepts for a wide variety of audiences
  • Knowledge of media measurement norms, media industry standards, and evolving data/privacy landscape
  • Deep understanding of media landscape trends, opportunities, and challenges
  • Track record of paid digital media innovation


  • Lead medical media strategy, tactical paid media plan development, and implementation across several brands/business units in partnership with Medical Affairs Leads
  • Develop media plan recommendations to support medical omnichannel planning and data dissemination plan
  • Partner closely with medical leads, omnichannel planning and innovation leads during strategic planning, ongoing KPI assessments, evolving omnichannel / data dissemination plan
  • Regularly partner with cross-functional colleagues in Privacy, Regulatory, Finance, Procurement, Analytics, etc. as needed during development and management of media plans/buys
  • Partner with medical leads, omnichannel leads to establish clear digital KPIs and continually optimize plans
  • Lead medical digital media reporting and insights
  • Manage medical media budgets and forecasting
  • Ensure strong partnership and performance with HCP media AOR
