Role Description:

A self-motivated, organized, and skilled senior pharmacologist with considerable experience in preclinical pharmacodynamic and disease models. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, designing, and conducting efficacy studies to support Maze’s research projects and in preclinical pharmacodynamic and disease model development. Applicants must feel comfortable with the fast pace of a small biotech company and have the flexibility to work on multiple projects.​

Your Impact Includes:

• Represent the Pharmacology department on multiple project teams
• Plan, design and conduct in vivo preclinical studies to demonstrate target engagement or efficacy in disease models to support drug candidate discovery and development
• Lead efforts to identify biomarkers that may have clinical utility
• Generate key data to provide preclinical POC for novel mechanistic targets
• Collaborate and coordinate seamlessly with other functional groups and project team members to deliver on program goals
• Lead disease model development activities
• Process, interpret, and document scientific results and communicate findings
• Manage, productively, more junior colleagues, and CROs/academic collaborators, as required

Qualifications:

• PhD in relevant field, and 4+ years’ experience in pharmacology or related discipline within a pharmaceutical company
• Considerable experience designing and executing rodent pharmacology studies
• Experience in rodent dosing via multiple routes of administration, and biological sample collection and processing for biomarker evaluation
• Experience in basic molecular biology techniques
• Ability to work independently as well as contribute actively to an integrated team
• Flexibility to work in a variety of therapeutic indications, and eagerness to learn new techniques and develop novel disease models
• Highly motivated, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Some experience with histological techniques a plus
• Experience with neurological, cardiometabolic and/or renal disease models a plu
• Experience in managing more junior colleagues
