Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this role you will join Amgens Pre-Pivotal Drug Product technologies organization as a member of our Synthetics Enabling Technologies Organization. We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with expertise in biopharmaceutical in silico modeling to support synthetic preclinical formulation development, molecule assessment and form screening. You will join a team coordinating with partners to identify clinical candidates that are patient centric and differentiated from the competition to better serve an expanded patient population. Specifically, the successful candidate will:

  • Support preclinical formulation development, lead optimization, and form selection to meet preferred product presentations for synthetics programs.
  • Provide expertise in Physiologically-Based Biopharmaceutical Models (PBBM) and conduct assessments using in silico packages such as GastroPlus.
  • Support early clinical development for synthetics liquid dosage forms (e.g. drug-in-bottle, parenteral) and technical transfers to support clinical manufacturing (GMP).
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners, including counterparts across R&D and Process Development, Business Development, and Amgens synthetics and biologics drug product organizations.
  • Partner with process teams to ensure pipeline deliverables are met on schedule and at a high quality.
  • Contribute to technical documents and regulatory filings: IND and NDA, technical protocols, technical reports, regulatory documents, patents, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate or Doctorate degree completed by September 2022 Or
  • Masters degree & 4 years of scientific experience Or
  • Bachelors degree & 6 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree in one of the following areas: Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Sciences or related field with 1-2 years of postdoctoral or industry experience.
  • Experience applying PBBM models using programs such as GastroPlus or SimcypTM.
  • Working knowledge in preformulation concepts to evaluate the develop-ability of small molecule drug candidates.
  • Direct experience with formulation and drug product process development.
  • Experience in solidstate techniques (DSC, TGA, XRD, microscopy, DVS, particle characterization, Raman, IR, etc.)
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical science, analytical chemistry, and drug stability of synthetic and/or biologic modalities.
  • A successful track record of peerreviewed journal publications and presentations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills: ability to distill, craft and present key messages relative to diverse audience requirements.
  • Problem solver with a proactive approach and independence to collaborate and work in a cross-functional and multidisciplinary environment.
