OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for an experienced and highly organized Accounts Payable Specialist I to assist our Finance department with accounts payable invoice, general ledger reconciliations and special projects. This position reports to the Accountant and is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-growth company in the biotech sector.  
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that invoices are entered into the accounts payable system in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Ensure daily verification, posting, and timely payment of invoices; match invoices with purchase orders and route to appropriate business personnel for approval
  • Accurately code or review coding on invoices
  • Research and resolve a variety of internal and external inquiries concerning payments and account status, including communicating resolution to the appropriate parties
  • Ensure tax exemptions are reflected properly in invoices
  • Review and track invoices with no sales tax charged to be incorporated in the quarterly sales tax returns
  • Audit submitted documents for errors and approvals
  • Reconcile and maintain AP general ledger and sub-ledger on a monthly basis
  • Review year end subsequent payments and determine if accruals need to be made in preparation for the audit
  • Support department with special projects and ad hoc requests

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in accounting or related field
  • 5+ years prior experience in accounts payable
  • Experience with 2- and 3-way match invoices
  • Experience with accounting software/procure-to-pay systems
  • Prior experience in MS Office/Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality in preparing and entering financial information
  • Prior experience in the life sciences industry 
  • Experience with NetSuite and Coupa
