Business Resilience serves to preserve processes and procedures in the face of unexpected disasters to avoid financial, operational, compliance, and reputational impact and to protect the brand, equity, resources, and staff.

The Business Resilience Director will work across the organization to identify and assess vulnerabilities related to financial, reputational, regulatory, and operational impacts as well as to lead the development, implementation, and operations of a business resilience program. Additionally, will develop the strategy and lead program execution by applying extensive technical expertise, while exhibiting an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness. The Business Resilience Director provides cross-functional leadership to Regeneron’s Business Resilience Program, increasing operational resilience by improving our ability to withstand a crisis event that could severely impact our patients, customers, business viability, and market share.

A typical day might include:
  • Develop, communicate, and drive the implementation of long-term goals and the strategy of the global Business Resilience program.
  • Provide consult to leaders in matters pertaining to business resilience programs, plans, objectives, and industry standards.
  • Act as trusted advisor for cross-functional teams throughout their business resilience planning lifecycle.
  • Develop and educate applicable colleagues on the common framework and methodology used when assessing business impacts, business continuity risks, and development of plans.
  • Establish and Chair the Business Resilience Steering/Governance Committee with representation from leaders across the global organization.
  • Work with team and cross-functional partners including Disaster Recovery, Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management, to coordinate all activities to identify, anticipate, respond, and to resume business from risks
  • Establish and maintain key partnerships across the organization’s support areas to ensure business continuity planning and incident response are incorporated including Human Resources, Enterprise Risk, Information Systems & Technologies, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, Security, and Facilities Management.
  • Develop business resilience/crisis management liaison duties and commitment at each site. Train as necessary.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and tabletop exercises based on BCM standards to validate business and technical recovery plans and capabilities, build awareness among recovery team members and partners, and identify gaps/improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain training and key performance indicators to ensure readiness and improve resiliency.
  • Develop good working relationships with local emergency responders.
  • Functions as an advisor to the EHS Department regarding tasks, projects and operations and is a subject matter expert in business resilience.
  • Available 24/7 for emergencies that may arise at Regeneron.

This role may be for you if you have:
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry including manufacturing
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel across the global organization
  • Basic knowledge of practices, procedures, and EHS concepts such as various health and safety programs including hazard communication, laboratory safety, radiation safety and infection control programs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree required
  • 12 years of progressive experience in business continuity and crisis management, and at least 4 years of management (supervisory) experience

Required Licenses & Certificates:
  • Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (FBCI), Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP) or other established certification program
  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or comparable established certification is preferred
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or equivalent is preferred
