Moderna is seeking an Engineer II for a position in the High throughput Technology Development (HTD) team, at the Moderna manufacturing site in Norwood, MA. The HTD team supports the development of innovative medicines and cutting-edge technologies through the design and construction of integrated high throughput experiences for Modernas engineers and scientists. The candidate will be part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists where communication skills and attention to detail are vital to team achievement. They are also expected to have a strong understanding of the process steps completed daily and derive process improvements from that understanding. It is expected that the engineer II has a team mentality and respects the common work areas. They value the safety of the workspace and those that work around them to maintain a safe work environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to quickly master new processes and the drive to be part of a dynamic, fast paced, and highly motivated team. Here's What Youll Do:
Integrate discrete pieces of laboratory automation and scientific equipment into connected work cells
Contribute to the design, assembly, and programming of integrated high throughput systems for Technology Development teams with an emphasis on establishing scalable/ transferable processes for producing high quality material and data
Adapt bench level experimental systems to full automation by developing automated workflows supporting biochemical and cell-based processes.
Create modular, user friendly liquid handling protocols
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:
Robotics engineering, electrical / computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or biomedical engineering degree (M.S. with no less than 1 year / B.S. with no less than 5 years of experience)
Experience programming industrial / collaborative robot arms or other robotic systems
Understanding of communication protocols such as RS232 and TCP/IP
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve failures of automated systems
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic environment
A limitless curiosity enabling quick mastery of new techniques and concepts
Ability to multi-task to meet timelines and relentless in pursuing successful outcomes
Exceptional written and oral communication
Experience with Venus programming
Experience with industrial automation programming (PLC/SCADA/DCS, etc.)
Direct experience with mRNA and DNA production
