Corporate Business Development at Resilience

Corporate Business Development at Resilience focuses on strategic partnerships with pharma, biotech, academic institutions, incubators and newcos to access disruptive biomanufacturing technologies to differentiate Resilience’s services offering, accelerate development of internal technologies and initiatives and to support the next generation of biomanufacturing innovators through a combination of company creation, investment (capital, capacity, biomanufacturing know-how), and access to technology to help with meaningful product differentiation. Corporate Business Development at Resilience is comprised of 3 matrixed groups: Alliance Management, Search & Evaluation and Transactions & Company Formation. Colleagues within any of the Corporate Business Development functions are expected to cross-work within the group and in concert with the Commercial and Corporate Development groups at Resilience on transactions to ensure the appropriate blend of expertise and stakeholders are brought to bear to drive efficient, high-quality decision-making.

Position Summary & Role

A Director, Alliance Management within the Corporate Business Development group at Resilience will engage a diverse spectrum of collaborating entities including pharma, biotech, technology developers, academic institutions and consortia, newcos and incubators. This individual will ensure that Resilience is respected and sought out as an equitable, collaborative, innovative partner-of-choice for biomanufacturing. Directors, Alliance Management shall act as a primary point of contact for ongoing partner engagements by liaising among relevant stakeholders within Resilience as well as those at our partner organizations. This individual will drive strategic planning and day-to-day decision-making for Resilience’s most important alliances and is expected to both ensure productivity of alliances (budgeting, amendments, terminations) as well as seek strategic adjacencies, where appropriate. Alliance Directors shall work in a matrixed environment within Corporate Business Development and across Resilience to ensure effective decision-making, drive institutional learning and contribute to development of colleagues and the AM group more generally.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage alliances with academic institutions, incubator networks and biotech newcos within Resilience’s processes and guidelines and consistent with Resilience’s Phenotypes

  • Contribute to a culture organization of curiosity, entrepreneurism and disciplined execution to drive alliances to meaningful conclusions and to explore strategic adjacencies where appropriate

  • Work closely with colleagues in Commercial, Corporate Development and Corporate Business Development to apply an enterprise perspective to alliance management

  • Engage counterparts in collaborator organizations

  • Mentor and develop colleagues within Corporate Business Development and across Resilience

  • Travel as required to cultivate alliance relationships and address AM issues

  • Present to senior leaders at decision-making committees

Preferred Experience, Education & Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of experience in developing, problem-solving, expanding and terminating alliances between companies or institutions involved in discovery or drug development

  • An advanced degree in science, medicine or management

  • A verifiable track record for sustainable alliance management and ability to make to challenging decisions

  • A nuanced coalition builder who can lead without authority and operate within a matrixed environment
