The Role:Olema is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team and become an integral part of the department’s finance and accounting operations. This position will be responsible for a broad range of activities including banking, monthly closes, general ledger reconciliations, internal and external reporting, preparation for audits, and special projects. This role will be based in either San Francisco, CA or Cambridge, MA and will report directly to the Accounting Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on Senior Accountant to join a company with an industry leading Board of Directors and Management team and roll up their sleeves to build an innovative women’s oncology company with significant potential to transform breast cancer treatments.
This position is available in either our San Francisco or Boston office.
What You Will Do:- Perform various stock administration related tasks
- Ensure corporate and out-of-pocket expense reports comply with current corporate policies
- Resolve various procurement and vendor related requests
- Prepare and review semi-monthly payroll inputs with Finance and Human Resources
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and year-end close related activities
- Prepare account reconciliations (cash, liabilities, fixed assets, payroll accruals) and supporting sub-ledgers
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
- Assist with preparation of audit sampling package for external & internal audits
- Assist with documentation and testing of internal system upgrades and modifications
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business
- 2 – 4 years of audit experience will be preferred
- CPA strongly preferred (Big 4 strongly encouraged)
- Biotech experience preferred
- Expertise in interpreting and applying financial policies and procedures including the use of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and methodologies
- Expertise in performing financial functions including preparation and posting of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement analysis, financial report preparation and variance analysis
- Ability to independently research, interpret, analyze, compile, and present data and information
- This role will be involved in the use and maintenance of the company’s software systems, which include:
- SAP Concur (Travel booking and expense reporting)
- American Express (Corporate credit cards)
- ADP TotalSource (Payroll)
- Prendio (Procurement and Accounts payable)
- Oracle NetSuite (General ledger)
- Fidelity (401k and Stock Admin)
