Summary

Single point of accountability for building the disease area strategy across various assets to advance our research and development by fully exploring the potential of the portfolio, external opportunities and combinations.

The Disease Area Strategy Team Lead (DAST Lead) monitors changes and trends in the therapeutic landscape of Breast Cancer (BC) or Lung Cancer(LC) and provides end-to-end strategic leadership and disease area expertise across the 3 ADCs portfolio plus emerging multiple assets.

This role will be a matrix team leader, leading a highly matrix cross-functional and cross-regional team including R&D, commercial and Medical Affairs functions. The BC/LC DAST Leader role will need to foster an unified vision for Disease Area Strategy across Oncology Portfolio and organization, drive effective collaboration between DAST members and other functional stakeholders & subject matter experts, facilitate collaboration and communication between DAST and relevant Global Asset Project Teams (GPTs), drive a single view around key disease area variables or decision framework and provide portfolio prioritization recommendations to governance committee. Together with the cross-functional team, the DAST leader is responsible for creating a high-quality disease area strategic plan and deliver, communicate and disseminate the plan.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for establishing disease area strategies that provide guidance and prioritization to asset teams about opportunities and areas of unmet medical need and generate strategically aligned development strategies
  • Work in partnership with clinical development team, GPTs etc. to ensure that the disease strategic expertise and input is integrated into the strategies, and make sure they are appropriately implemented in organization.
  • Accountable for the communication with GPTs on external information and internal information including overall product development plans and ensures that there is an integrated Disease Strategy plan within the portfolio based on strong medical and scientific principles, emerging external data, knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, markets, business operations, the Business Development Landscape and emerging issues.
  • Actively contributes to progressing the Global TA Strategy department as strategic influencer and other functional initiative


Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

  • advanced degree (Master, MBA or PHD) in a scientific discipline with additional relevant experience required
  • MD MD/Pharm D or equivalent preferred
  • PharmD preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 7 or More Years Extensive experience in the biopharma industry as a cross-functional drug development leader. required
  • Prior experience in disease areas strategy team lead, especially Breast / Lung cancer area, highly preferred
    Prior experience as a leader of asset development teams or equivalent preferred

  • Proven track record as a leader of a highly matrixed team with strong interpersonal skills to influence cross-functional and cross-regional senior leaders with collaborative mindset (R&D, Commercial, and beyond) required
  • Demonstrated success as a project leader in planning and executing strategies for global drug development, commercialization and life cycle management. preferred
  • Has a strong expert network and can consult key external disease experts (KEE) on disease area strategy, as needed preferred
