Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading and supervising the Program Management Department and its personnel, and for managing the tracking of the drug development and commercialization process from asset acquisition to out-licensing or commercialization in the organization. This role ensures HUYABIO executes on its important priorities in an aligned, integrated manner across all functions to support company goals and accelerate the development and commercialization of the product portfolio.
This is an office-based position that works in a cross-functional and dynamic environment. Clear, timely, professional, and effective communication with all HUYABIO functional areas and global office sites is essential.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight and leadership to the team of program managers that support the clinical portfolio of therapies across all stages of development. Manages, coaches, and mentors direct reports
  • Partners with project team leaders and individual program managers to provide strategic input on development plans, ensures ongoing alignment to project team objectives and overall execution of program deliverables; acts as a sounding board to manage issue resolution and facilitate team’s evaluation and development of recommended strategic plans
  • With oversight of the overall portfolio and program timelines, ensures efficient and timely communication between/across functions and senior management on issues and interdependencies, including budget and resource constraints, ensuring with program risks and challenges are addressed to advance programs
  • Assists with identifying, implementing, and communicating across projects the best practices related to the development, initiation, planning, execution, control, and closing of preclinical, clinical studies, and/or studies to support post-approval requirements
  • Coordinates activities with external business partners and alliances, where appropriate; contributes to achieving partnership contract deliverables
  • Oversees development and maintenance of centralized and integrated systems to manage timelines, budgets, and resources, as well as Program Management Operations in the development and refinement of standardized dashboards and reporting tools
  • Represents Program Management across various governance committees (technical, strategic, tactical) providing objective oversight of topics for discussion and escalation

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Requires 12+ years in the biopharma industry with a minimum of 10+ years experience in program management in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related environment, with a proven track record of delivering clinical-stage programs on time, within budget
  • MS degree or higher in a relevant science discipline
  • PMP or equivalent certification
  • Experience with biopharma project management best practices in time, communication, cost, risk, change, and human resource management
  • In-depth understanding of the drug development process, including firsthand experience managing cross-functional development teams across all stages of development (IND submissions, clinical development, global regulatory filings, NDA submissions, market approvals, and post-marketing)
  • Strong organizational skills, proven effectiveness in a quick-changing, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation and facilitation
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Effective at conveying a vision, establishing goals, energizing others, mentoring and coaching, and delegating when appropriate
