ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer Partner of Choice (PoC) service collaborations expand the way Pfizer works together with biopharmaceutical partners (Partners) to advance innovative therapies. PoC offers unique differentiated capabilities with global scale and capacity, industry leading speed and quality to quickly develop quality assets, and one-stop shop with expertise across the entire development lifecycle.

The Partner of Choice (PoC) Relationship Lead is responsible for developing, maintaining, and expanding relationships with strategically important biopharmaceutical companies where the broader Pfizer organization has a potential or vested interest. This interest may include but not be limited to future R&D collaborations, financial ownership or product/technology licensing.

The Relationship Lead will be assigned approximately three to five Partners where they will lead and manage these external relationships and service collaborations against budgeted revenue and margin targets along with key account objectives. The Partners will be identified and agreed to by the PoC Leadership, Pfizer Business Development, and ES&I in alignment with therapeutic area and overall Pfizer corporate strategy.

The Relationship Lead represents Pfizer and the entire range of Partner of Choice services to their assigned customers and enlists the support of, but not limited to, Worldwide Research Development and Medical (WRDM), Global Product Development (GPD), Pfizer CentreOne (PC1), Pfizer Global Supply (PGS), Digital, Finance and Legal. The Relationship Lead will need to have a thorough understanding of the externally facing PoC Governance Process and work within the construct of the process with key stakeholders. Leading Governance Process appropriately will ensure that PoC engages with partners in alignment with the PoC strategy including activities stipulated in the contract (e.g., charters, Joint Steering Committee, Biotech communications, contract management). The Relationship Lead will have broad experience within the pharmaceutical industry, especially R&D (Candidate Selection through Phase 3 Development) and work as a liaison between all of Pfizer and the Partner Account. The role will also be responsible for having a deep understanding of the Partner organizational structure, key personnel, business areas of focus, and contracting requirements. They will be in constant pursuit of opportunities that will bring value to Pfizer and the Pfizer Partner of Choice business.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve assigned revenue and profitability growth targets as well as the Partner of Choice objectives, business goals, and milestones as defined by leadership.
  • Interact regularly with contacts in Partner Accounts from the C-suite to the management ranks to strengthen the relationship and identify fresh new business opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain productive, professional relationships with key decision makers in assigned Partner accounts.
  • As appropriate and defined by individual Partner collaboration needs, broker initial strategic and operational discussions in partnership with the PoC Operational Lead who will engage key PFE subject matter experts in pursuit of potential development service engagements. Secure needed organizational support as warranted from initial scoping of opportunity through contracted engagement.
  • Proactively lead the PoC Account Planning Process that develops mutual performance objectives, overall financial targets and transactions, critical milestones, and company personnel responsibilities for a one and three-year period; track and report progress toward plan achievement.
  • Closely coordinate Senior Leadership and Executive involvement with Partner Accounts as required throughout collaboration to ensure healthy relationship and successful delivery.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate account needs through routine business reviews; coordinate the involvement of Pfizer colleagues/functions, in order to clearly understand and meet account performance objectives and expectations.
  • Build an excellent reputation for service; Develop efficient and effective strategies to respond to account concerns and work closely with colleagues to ensure high customer satisfaction ratings and prompt problem resolution and issue mitigation.
  • Participate in long range volume forecasting , Annual Operating Plan, and near-term demand/financial forecasting.
  • On an as needed basis, represent Pfizer on areas of interest at the Partner Accounts.
  • Liaise and align with Pfizer Business Development, Worldwide Research Development and Medical (WRDM), Global Product Development (GPD), Pfizer CentreOne (PC1), Pfizer Global Supply (PGS), Digital, Finance and Legal to accomplish business objectives.
  • Have a deep understanding of the Partner of Choice customer service model and account management practices such as: governance processes and decision making, confidentiality, proposal generation, contract terms and conditions/repository management, system of record [e,g. SalesForce], etc.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical industry and senior leadership experience, with at least 3-5 years of selling business-to-business sales, management, and negotiation experience.
  • BA/BS in Business, Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related science discipline.
  • A proven track record of strong executive relationship building and direct experience in biopharmaceutical Contract Research, Development and/or Manufacturing Business-to-Business (B2B).
  • Ability to establish, negotiate and manage complex strategic contracts is required.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated result-orientation, tenacity, and follow-through.
  • The ability to be successful in a matrixed environment with a high degree of flexibility; collaborate well with Pfizer Business Development, Manufacturing, Research & Development, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs functions to accomplish business objectives.
  • Must have a proven track record of being effective at self-management and driving results.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer and business partner relationships.
  • Increasing Operational/Financial/Commercial experience.
  • Strong Financial and business acumen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • P&L experience is strongly preferred.
  • SalesForce.com or customer relationship management experience strongly preferred.
