We are currently searching for a Clinical Trials Research Nurse to support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a part-time position with MSC and is onsite in Bethesda, MD.


Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the ongoing and future clinical trials performed by the laboratory. These studies may be clinical studies or collaborative studies between the laboratory and other institute investigators. 
  • Complete these studies efficiently and safely providing quality samples and data that will be analyzed and published to improve knowledge and promote further clinical development of novel therapeutics and vaccines for viral diseases.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and laboratory scientists to implement clinical trials and associated study sites. 
  • Assist in all levels of the clinical trials including assisting in clinical trial design, clinical protocol writing, and implementation.
  • Responsible for training clinical nursing staff and other hospital staff prior to study initiation as well as monitoring the performance of that staff to assure all clinical protocol requirements are being met. 
  • Interact with other clinical trial site staff to schedule and acquire resources needed for a particular study day. 
  • Interact with study participants in many ways, including recruitment, consent, follow up, and during routine study visits. 
  • Perform data collection and organization for the purposes of analysis and publication.
  • Work approximately 24 hours a week with a flexible schedule that may change week to week depending on the timing of various clinical trials, meetings, and participant interactions required.



  • M.S. degree in Nursing. Must possesses Maryland nursing licensure, that is current.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of professional clinical experience with adults. 
  • Experience as a clinical research nurse is preferred.
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary environment such as a university hospital or research hospital highly preferred.
  • Must be comfortable and have experience working with individuals with infectious diseases requiring isolation. 
  • Experience and training regarding special respiratory isolation procedures for more highly pathogenic or contagious infections such as highly pathogenic influenza or Ebola preferred.
