What You Will Achieve

You will be a member of Pfizer’s dedicated and highly effective quality assurance and control team. You will be responsible for analyzing chemical, biological or microbiological products to support our quality programs. Your contribution to environmental testing, utility monitoring, analytical testing, microbial identification and sterility testing will help Pfizer provide safe drugs to patients. Your understanding of Quality Control instruments will help us meet their accuracy specifications against established standards. You will also be relied on for setting requirements for the transfer of methodology from R&D.

As an Environmental Monitoring Analyst, your strong foundation in general scientific practice and in the principles and concepts of the discipline will help us achieve our goals. You will be relied on as a technical contributor to assess the assigned tasks and make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge. This position is specific to those able to perform environmental monitoring at the Sanford site. The position will support the Pfizer Sanford, NC Quality Operations department by performing Environmental Monitoring activities associated with clinical and/or commercial facilities, utilities, and water systems. Key responsibilities are performing GMP tasks associated with maintaining compliant manufacturing areas and operations through sampling, analyzing, interpreting and trending results.

How You Will Achieve It

o Performs sampling including, but not limited to clinical and/or commercial environmental and utilities samples.

o Analyzes and interprets results, makes decisions regarding the accuracy, completeness and compliance.

o Responsible for reporting issues to management and participating in issue resolution (such as reporting variances and participating in associated manufacturing investigations, reporting hardware and software issues and assisting with troubleshooting, etc.)

o Assessing existing environments, processes and procedures and suggesting improvements to increase compliance and innovation.

o Applies technical skills to complete assigned work within own work group/project team

o Participates in activities/projects to support work group/project team goals

o Acts safely and follows all EH&S safety requirements for site and QC laboratories

o May initiate, develop plan and drive to completion continuous improvement projects.

o In addition, may be asked to perform tasks associated with maintaining GMP compliant Quality Control and Stability laboratories.

o Responsible for knowing, understanding and acting in accordance with Pfizer’s Values.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

o Applicant must have six years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree with four years of experience; OR a Bachelor's degree with 0-2 years of experience.

o Individual should have knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Microsoft Office™ applications specifically Word and Excel, and Aseptic Practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

o Preferred knowledge of basic microbiology, aseptic practices and/or environmental monitoring principles.

o Strong foundation in general scientific practice and in the principles and concepts of microbiology

o Good written and verbal communication techniques

o Ability to follow written procedures and learn from hands on training

o Capability of solving complex mathematical and situation dependent problems

o Ability to receive feedback and take accountability for actions and personal development

o Aptitude for good decision making based on procedures, guidance, and experience

o Awareness to know their own limitations and seek senior scientist or management guidance when appropriate

o Desire to ensure correctness and accuracy in tasks and documentation, detail oriented

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift 30 lbs, stand for 2 to 3 hours at a time, sit for 2 to 3 hours at a time, walk long distances and bend to obtain items from lower shelving/cabinets

Intellectual capability to perform complex mathematical problems and perform complex data analysis.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

2nd shift position with rotating weekends
