What You Will Achieve
The candidate will be part of the site’s Process Safety Management (PSM) team responsible for ensuring full compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA PSM requirements, RMP requirements and Pfizer’s standards.
As an individual contributor, the candidate will have responsibilities to learn the site’s active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing processes, lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) using the appropriate methodologies, use dispersion modeling in the PHAs, develop and offer training on risk and risk mitigation, conduct investigations, and create red-lined revisions to site P&IDs.
As a manager level PSM team member, the candidate will provide PSM expertise to the site and provide mentorship to other members on the team. The candidate will need to work in cross functional teams to ensure that process and equipment design incorporates process safety standards at every step to ensure safe production of Pfizer medicines.
How You Will Achieve It
Interpret, implement, and execute both external (MIOSHA, OSHA, EPA RMP) and internal Pfizer Guidelines related to Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
Provide PSM support for significant capital projects and product transfers. Assure PSM requirements are included in the design and scope of capital projects.
Lead comprehensive Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) on both exiting processes/facilities and capital projects.
Lead complex investigations and works with the area to identify effective corrective and preventive actions.
Conduct benchmarking with internal and external partners to support the SMEs in developing alternative solutions to complex problems.
Complete site self-audits and identify opportunities to improve regulatory inspection-readiness
Identify and develops initiatives to improve productivity of the EHS programs and systems.
Works closely with SMEs to identify alternative solutions that will drive results for EHS action plans to exceed Site EHS metrics and objectives.
Qualifications
Must-Have
10 years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree with eight years of experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of experience; OR a Master’s degree with more than three years of experience; OR a Ph.D. with 0-2 years of experience.
Engineering and/or Process Safety Management experience
Has experienced and required certifications to lead a process hazard analysis.
Experience with combustible dust PHAs (DHAs)
Formal PHA training with experience in different PHA methodologies
Works independently to identify situations and implementing results for high-level projects
Excellent project management skills.
High proficiency in MS Office including Project Management and Visio.
Strong presentation skills with experience in concisely summarizing problems and recommending actions.
A self-motivated individual with excellent problems solving, communications and team building skills.
Demonstrates resilience in identifying solutions to complex problems.
Willing to learn new skills and subjects to improve the EHS program.
Nice-to-Have
Professional Engineer
Green or Black Belt Certification
Experience in using multiple investigation techniques
Experience with developing dispersion modeling
HAZWOPER training and experience
Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to perform mathematical calculations and perform complex data analysis. Self-driven, insightful.
Work Environment
Typically in an office environment, but must be willing to work in the field and operating units as needed to fully analyze situations and implement solutions.
Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environment Requirements
Standard work schedule, Monday – Friday, days; may infrequently require off-shift and weekend support.
Required being on call.
