In this vital role you will support the enterprise Backup environment, accountable to provide operational support and MSP oversight for our enterprise Backup and restore service impacting over 2PB of geographically dispersed data. The Sr. Associate IS Engineer will work with the Senior Manager Information Systems. This position will be based out of its Capability Center in Tampa, FL. The Infrastructure Operations team is the global enterprise administration group that leads physical and virtual hosting including private and public cloud hosting options, operating systems, databases, middleware, storage, and backup. The backup and recovery team lead the large scale, enterprise backup software and infrastructure that requires 24x7 uptime and meets compliance requirements.

Key Activities for a Specialist IS Engineer include:
  • Supports the Service Owner, Backup Architect, full time employees, and MSP in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the technology service
  • Plan and complete backup related lifecycle management activities
  • Assist Service Owner and Backup Architect in detailed resource planning for vendors and IT teams based on the prioritized project list
  • Participates in multiple simultaneous strategic projects and large-scale initiatives including business continuity and high availability for critical applications
  • Perform vital backup infrastructure maintenance in accordance with Veritas NetBackup best practices and, Company Change Management policies
  • Contribute to Runbook Design, Development, and ongoing updates
  • Chip in to ongoing recommendations and best practices, as applicable, for the following areas: Business Continuity, High Availability, Backup, Recovery and Archiving
  • Supply Capacity Planning and Disaster Recovery Planning and design
  • Provide ITIL Process Planning as applicable

Basic Qualifications:

Masters degree

OR

Bachelors degree and 2 years of Information Systems and Backup Engineer experience

OR

Associate degree and 6 years of Information Systems and Backup Engineer experience

OR

High school diploma/GED and 8 years of Information Systems and Backup Engineer experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years experience with NetBackup master server, media server, and appliance technologies
  • 2+ Years experience with tape libraries, and offsite tape management
  • 1+ Years experience with Off-Prem public cloud backup, archiving, and DR solutions
  • Familiarity with NetApp Snapshots, including SnapVault replication
  • Solid background in backup/data protection and data lifecycle management
  • Strong scripting skills using shell PowerShell, Python and batch
  • Basic experience with ITIL processes such as Incident/Problem/Configuration/Change management, preferably using ServiceNow
