This Senior Manager, International Tax Operations position will be responsible for US international tax compliance and reporting. Responsibilities will include review and preparation of international forms needed for the federal tax return along with international related calculations needed for determining the U.S. tax cost on foreign operations on a quarterly basis. Will also provide tax guidance and leadership on a wide range of tax issues as well as support for the US federal income tax audit process for international issues.

Main responsibilities include:

Tax Compliance and Audit

  • Will be responsible for US international tax compliance and reporting including GILTI, Subpart F, FTC, withholding taxes, §163j and PTEP calculations for 5471 reporting for assigned CFCs
  • Will be responsible for assigned aspects of Form 1118 preparation along with related §861 expense allocation calculations
  • Partner with our controversy group by responding to assigned IDRs for the U.S. tax audits as they relate to foreign issues (such as Foreign Tax Credits, GILTI, 5471s etc.). Also assist with foreign income tax audits for various selected foreign markets
  • Assist with the preparation of international information statements, elections, and disclosures for the federal tax return
  • Responsible for the review and compilation of world-wide cash tax payments and receipts to help support foreign tax credits
  • Responsible for selected aspects of the Country by Country Reporting (CbCR) workstream for the US tax return and various foreign markets. Become proficient with the applicable CbCR software.
  • Prepare, track, and archive audit ready workpapers to help ensure that we can adequately support filing positions

Financial Tax Reporting

  • Responsible for calculating the US tax cost on foreign operations each quarter for assigned CFCs. This includes the support of calculations relating to Subpart F, GILTI and FTCs
  • Work with SAP and HFM including SmartView and essbase for monitoring and reviewing relevant data needed for various workstreams
  • Review and approve the monthly and quarterly US GAAP income tax entries for various assigned markets as part of a broader workstream, this includes the review of current/deferred tax provisions, valuation allowances, rate reconciliations and tax rollforwards
  • Track and communicate the quarterly tax accounting deliverables. This includes coordinating with Global Tax colleagues to ensure an understanding of our quarterly requirements and meeting our internal deadlines
  • Will be assigned special projects for US GAAP reporting relating to acquisitions or divestitures, international tax compliance or other Global Tax issues as needed
  • Partner with international and federal tax reporting staff to ensure compliance with all tax rules and regulations while minimizing the corporation’s tax liability
  • Assist with the quarterly coordination with the regional tax planning/transfer pricing leads in order identify issues with tax accounting impacts

Other:

  • Establish BEST practices and implement processes which will lead to efficient and accurate tax compliance and accounting deliverables
  • Drive the use of technology to extract and manage data for reporting and returns in a highly automated and controlled manner

REQUIRED BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or local equivalent)
  • CPA (or local equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years of financial or tax experience working in Big 4 Accounting and/or a large complex multinational organization, with specific experience in ASC 740
  • Proficient in applying knowledge of domestic tax laws for proper presentation in the US consolidated tax return and, where applicable, in the financial statements
  • Strong financial, analytical, accounting and organizational skills
  • US tax compliance experience (for international operations)
  • A thorough understanding of management accounting and an ability to analyze and understand financial statements
  • Demonstrates leadership, accountability and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Timely identify, communicate and offer issue resolution
  • Excellent partnering and oral and written communication skills with colleagues in multiple jurisdictions as well as exceptional managerial and organizational skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple requests and adhere to tight timelines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters’ degree in Taxation
  • Life Sciences industry experience

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Has experience working in high pressure environments with the ability to multitask and make independent decisions as well as work towards tight deadlines
  • Be able to work from time-to-time non-standard hours due to time zone differences and or business requirements
