SENIOR MANAGER, COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS

Position Summary:

This individual is responsible for implementing and maintaining business processes/systems to support and monitor execution of various commercial initiatives aligned to the overall corporate/brand strategy. He/She will be a key partner to multiple home office and field-based stakeholders and support them in projects related to sales operations, data operations, incentive compensation and commercial data/business intelligence reporting.  This individual will report directly to the Sales Strategy and Operations Lead.

The role will be based in South San Francisco Head Quarters and be a work interchangeable position requiring 1-3 days/week in the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales Operations:

  • Implement sales strategy and initiatives by:
  • Working with IT partners to ensure CRM systems are configured to capture the data elements related to execution; be the business owner of such systems and guide the technical teams to define requirements and validate implementations
  • Work closely with internal peers to understand ongoing targeting strategy and implement targeting cycles for our field force
  • Help with field optimization requests such as alignment optimizations and evaluate such requests objectively based on data and make recommendations
  • Work closely with Commercial Effectiveness team to orchestrate effective communication with the field force
  • Field Adhoc requests from sales force and work seamlessly with internal stakeholders to resolve questions/issues

Incentive Compensation Admin/Ops- Goal Setting and Administration:

  • End to end incentive compensation admin including Goal setting, administration, reporting, communication, awards/contests, data integrity/accuracy and IC governance
  • Field IC related questions from the field and respond promptly
  • Maintain documentation related to IC Plan and Terms and Conditions
  • Continually look for opportunities to automate and optimize the process
  • Create communication material as and when required

Data and Reporting Operations:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to continually look for opportunities to improve the reporting and BI tools to remain aligned with the latest strategic imperatives
  • Will lead the implementation of sales tools, technology, processes, and operations policies, i.e., dashboards, applications, field inquiries- for Sales Leadership, Field Sales, Payer Team
  • Play key role in CRM implementation as well as enhancement and sustainment work to continually evolve the technology to meet business needs
  • Work with external vendors to manage ongoing operations of commercial data eco system
  • Remain very closely in touch with initiatives going on in various parts of the commercial organization and continue to make updates to data eco system so that it continues to serve as a single source of truth to track and measure such initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration preferred
  • 6 to 9 years of consulting experience and/or a generalist that has worked across field operations projects including sales analysis, incentive compensation, field operations, commercial data, and technology-- supporting clients in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry
  • Experience providing guidance to team members
  • Must be a problem solver, and is expected to “connect the dots” i.e., think through implications of this teams work to other parts of the business and understand the impact of decisions in other parts of business (in turn proactively address communication/changes)
  • Knowledge and experience partnering with Sales Leadership, Brand Marketing, Commercial Operations, IT, etc.
  • Solid experience with commercial technology (MDM, CRM, data warehousing, i.e. Veeva, Javelin, Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.); deep understanding of standard and emerging commercial secondary data sources, i.e. Xponent, DDD, SP, Claims, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, in particular, the ability to summarize results and decisions in a concise manner across varying stakeholders
  • Proven history of working and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously, with tight deadlines and changing priorities is required
  • Strong ability to use Microsoft Office (specifically PowerPoint and Excel) and data visualization applications to organize and present quantitative data is required
  • Must be hands on to retrieve data from commercial data warehouse and respond to quick turnaround data requests
  • Passionate and visionary about the function and supporting the success of the business
