Job Details

OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth is hiring a Senior Scientist I or II to provide cross-functional technical leadership to R&D projects run within the Platform team. The Platform team develops next-generation CRISPR tools for therapeutic genome editing applications and is composed of technical staff with diverse strengths in bioinformatics, biochemistry, protein engineering and high-throughput screening. The successful candidate will lead CRISPR tool development projects from early conceptualization through optimization and handoff to downstream preclinical research teams. This is a fantastic opportunity to impact human health by making CRISPR tools that cure genetic disease.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead cross-functional technical planning and execution for CRISPR tool R&D projects
  • Communicate technical plans and progress in internal meetings
  • Manage a small R&D team composed of 2-5 Scientists and Research Associates
  • Collaborate with project management to allocate resources towards cross-functional CRISPR-tool development projects
  • Disclose inventions to the IP team for patenting
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomolecular Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3 years (for Senior Scientist I) or 4 years (for Senior Scientist II) professional experience in industry or academia in addition to graduate work
  • Prior experience developing CRISPR-derived tools for genome editing applications
  • Hands-on experience in three of the following areas: (i) bioinformatic approaches for novel protein discovery, (ii) automated methods for high throughput molecular biology workflows, (iii) biochemical assay of nucleic acid-modifying enzymes, (iv) directed evolution approaches for protein engineering, (v) plasmid design for bacterial and mammalian expression of recombinant proteins and RNAs, (vi) next-generation sequencing (NGS) assay design and library preparation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years biotechnology industry experience
  • 1 year experience coordinating technical operations for multi-disciplinary project teams with 10 or more contributors. This includes technical scoping, scheduling, resourcing and risk management
